I have 29 gallon tank and how tons of live rock in it. The coralline algae is red, purple and green and has been doing ok since I got it, but not great.

I recently installed a Dual Sateillite power compact, total 130 Watts, and the live rock looks like it's dying.

What is happening to my rock and how can I stop this? I want to maintain a reef tank but my rock is starting to look horrible.

Any advice??

hi guys I have a goldfish not responding to melafix for fin rot though it has not got worse, only on 1 fin and it looks like it has 1 bone sticking out from it, attached to a small amount of fin tissue that is whitish. This is all due to nitrogen cycle and have now successfuly cycled a bigger tank fishless to house him as his current home is also way too small. If I use an antibiotic can I do a medicated bath as not to disturb the biological filter? submerge and return to tank after a couple of hours? I have a quarantine tank but I have minnows in it at present as they will be taking his old home when I tranfer him to his new home. Any suggestions on medicating. have used salt bath, melafix and also adjusted temperature, now thinking of using antibiotics. but no where to medicate..... other than 15 litre with no filter or air pump..

I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank, with a variety of cichlids. Recently developed a bacteria bloom at the same time I got the clams. Have been doing 50% water changes to control the bloom and ammonia, daily for the last days. Out of the 7 clams only one is cracked open and the rest have been dormant for a day and a half. How do will I know if they are still alive? Any help will be apreciated!

I have a 29 gallon fish tank. Right now i have 5 tetras (serpae).
My father has been keeping fish for a very long time and he sais the cycling process is bullshit. What do you think? Do i really need to cycle my tank or are fish stores trying to suck the money out of my pocket?

(new tank ; had it for about 3 weeks now)

im sure its not really a hunger strike..

but they dont seem to be eating
i did see them running into the bubbles (from the bubble stone) and letting the bubbles shoot them upwards
i reckon that thats a way they entertain themselves
but. i havent seen them eat yet.

and i worried that they arnt eating
what should i do to encourage them to eat?

I have a 180l tropical tank kept at 23c. recently some fish have been hiding under rocks or plants, when i lift the rock they have a swollen eye and cant swim stright often spining round and round, (looks like they have lost their minds!). when i come back later they are always dead.

I have noticed in some of the larger fish that have not started hiding that there skin is becoming duller and my guppys and zebra fish stomacks are becoming unusally large.

So far one zebra, silver tip tetra, platy and a molly have died with another two hiding away now.

I do a 5% water change every 4 days and had the water checked which is susposedly at normal levels. i feed fish a mixture of pellets and life food. I DO NOT believe this is a water quality issues. solutions would be appreciated.

I just want one, maybe two, but I don't have much room for it. I used to have a bunch of fish as a kid but...I was stupid and mixed a bunch of fish together that shouldn't have coexisted, to keep it simple, lol.

So anyway, I really only have room for a large bowl or a small rectangular tank...maybe a 10 gallon tank. I don't want something too fragile because I'll feel really bad if it dies. But something that's not too much trouble with water temperature, pH level, tank cleanliness etc.

I definitely want a fish with some personality though. I hate those fish that just hide all the time...I want something cool that will swim around a lot and interact with you, and maybe another fish too.

So if you can suggest anything I'd really appreciate it. I'd like to add an underwater plant too, and a castle or something for it to swim through. I definitely want something cool and colorful, but not too expensive...Lets try to keep it under $50-75 a fish. Thanks.

I've had my betta for over a month now and I moved from college to home this past week. I changed his water recently, but it seems the past couple weeks he's not been interested in food. He's incredibly active and will still puff up. But his fins are curling a little and his bubbles were gone long before I changed the water.
