I'll be spending the holiday weekend taking down and cleaning my aquarium. Does anyone know of a fast method for cleaning out the gravel? The aquarium will not be set up again any time soon, so I am not concerned with preserving the bacteria, etc., I just want to wash out all of the debris and make sure it doesn't smell bad in storage.

Last week, he complete ignored all the pellets I gave him, the ones in got in his mouth he spat them out. He started eating again, but he's starting his hunger strike again. I've been feeding him those pellets since the day i got him and he's never had a problem before.

He isn't suddenly blind, he isn't letahrgic, the pellets are not too big.

I've had him since last march. The pellets have been around for at least 3 years. (wardley's betta pellets)

I only have 2 guppies and 2 platies in the tank. It is 60 litres ish so I dont think it's overcrowding. All the other fish are absolutely fine. I have recently moved them to a new bigger tank but have matured the water etc. before they were moved. Any ideas?

I have a 3000 gallon pond in my backyard but this year we have tons of algae that is sticking to the liner. everyday i go out and spend 10 minutes removing the stuff that has come loose.. Can I buy some sort of algae eating fish that can live trough the winter up here in montreal???
I have 8 goldfish and 2 koi. They seem to prefer the floating fish food rather than the algae... Please help.

I have a 55 gallon tank and I don't think I overcrowded it. I asked a million questions when purchasing the fish and chose good "starter" fish such as platy's, guppies, mollies, guarami's, etc. I have a Bio Wheel 350 filter which I cleaned
but am still seeing the cloudy water. I have about 6 fish left including a sicilian worm and a corey. My daughter has always treated the water before we poured it in and will test the water again before adding more fish. Thganks to all the help and if there is anything else I need to be doing, please let me know because I am clueless at this point. Thanks. Ally

I have a stable 30 gallon tank that has been going for a few years now.

In it I have a half a dozen live plants, 7 neon tetras, 3 flame tetras, a molly, two swords, two ADFs, a pleco, a chinese algea eater, a khuli loach, and a gold dojo (weather) loach

But ever summer I seem to have the same problem. Since I don't have AC, when a heat wave hits, my house gets very hot. The problem is it gets too hot for the tank (mid to upper 80s and sometimes even in the 90s). Then at night it cools down to the mid 70s to low 80s. The extreme heat plus the temperature fluctuations are not good for the tank. (I have my tank heater set to kick in if the temp drops below 70.) I have tried adding ice cubes and cold water, but that only works if I'm home all day and can add them in small doses. Does anyone have any ideas how I can keep my fish safe during the summer and when I'm generally away from home all day?

Thanks for any help or advice

Hey, I have a 20 gallon tank with a very small Green Terror in it. I've had him for a few months now and he seems very happy and is growing at a nice rate. I don't feed him a ton of food so I'm pretty sure that there is no over feeding. I change the water and the filter carbon/cotton every other week.

Today I noticed a puffy white mold like substance growing on my filter. I have never seen this before and have no clue what it is. The mold is not in the water, it is surrounding the inner portions of the filter above the water line and has grown a touch out of the small vent like things on the filter cap.

I am using a Whisper power 30 and have had no problems up until this white puffy stuff. I use water conditioners when I change the water and keep the ph level at or around 6.8-7.0

My fish seems happy and healthy but I am concerned about the mold, my nephew has pretty bad allergies. I had an issue with Ich a few weeks back but that is ok now.

Any help would be appreciated

I am usure because the parents are being very over protective even when we turn airstone on (they keep moving them around) They are freely swimming in the tank since this morning. We have ha the filter on but turned because we were worried it may ham them but tank is getting very dirty & weneed it on. There is only the parents in the tank it is thier lot of babies. We have plants(real & artifficial) onaments & gravel in a 2.5' tank, we have not removed anything, should we? we are greatful to any educated response.

the country that i am in does not speak any english, i cannot communicate to buy an aerator as i did not even see one there and after buying the bowl and fish as a first time user, i discovered it was wrong. so i need a solution as to how often to change the water and feed it.. i bought 2 plants as well. Pls do not reply with dumb answers like affordability of aerators-money is not the point here-i want to save the fish and i have realised the folly of getting one in the bowl. Also did not see any fish tanks, so i have to make the best of the situation and ur experience counts. thanks.
