Last week, he complete ignored all the pellets I gave him, the ones in got in his mouth he spat them out. He started eating again, but he's starting his hunger strike again. I've been feeding him those pellets since the day i got him and he's never had a problem before.
He isn't suddenly blind, he isn't letahrgic, the pellets are not too big.
I've had him since last march. The pellets have been around for at least 3 years. (wardley's betta pellets)

If you are keeping him in an unheated, unfiltered bowl, he is finally showing the effects of the constant temperature fluctuation and probably hasn't been getting partial water changes often enough.
He will become lethargic, lose his color, stop eating altogether and then die. Bettas are tropical fish and need a heated, filtered aquarium of at least 5 gallons. They come from Southeast Asia where the water temp is in the 78-82 degree range.
In the wild they live up to 5 years. In small unheated bowls and vases they are lucky to live for a year. It has to be pure hell for them too.
They are carnivores in the wild and need high protein foods like bloodworms, adult brine shrimp and BettaMin Flakes. Hard pellets sometimes will cause a blockage in the intestine. Try soaking them if you continue to feed them to him.

If you have had the pellets for three years. They most likely have become stale or bad in some way. I would get rid of the pellets and try some new foods. Like tropical fish flakes, live food, frozen, or even some freeze dried foods. Most of all make sure you are meeting all of his dietary needs. By feeding him different foods each time you feed him daily. I would suggest that you feed him no more than he can eat in 2 to 3 minute and feed him at least 3 times daily.

A variety of food is best for bettas. The more kinds of food the better, mine eat 4-5 types of food depending on their preferences. I feed them Hikari pellets, freeze dried bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, live blackworms and some of them like to eat the tropical flakes I got for the guppies and tetras.
Odds are your current food is stale or bad after three years. try getting new pellets and some of the stuff I listed as food for your pet. He may turn around and recover.

if you didn't feed your Betta bloodworm's. for a while and he got hungry enough i am sure he would eat the Betta bits. I give my Betta bloodworm's every other nite so if he wants something to eat between then he better it the bits. and he does. He likes the flakes to. I would say the bloodworm's taste better than the bits. Good Luck.

I'd suggest getting new pellets. Plus, you're probably over-feeding him. Only feed him 3-4 pellets a day. I had a betta fish for over 6 years once. Treat him right! :)

When fish stop eating it is usually a sign of some type of illness or upset. To test this try feeding it some blood worms or brine shrip and see if this makes a difference. Another commen mistake that people make is keeping betta's to cold. They need at least 78 to 80 degress to remain in good health, ( they are not gold fish). Good luck.

my fish did this too about a week before it died, I really don't know what to tell you but animals do that when they get older, it happened to my family's 17 year old cat when he was going on his way out also, it's sad, but it is life, everything has a beginning and an end

you need to change his food, give him a little variety, try giving him some brine shrimp.
its like if you only thing you had to eat was bread, you would get bored with the same old food.
