2 Oscars is already too much for a 30 gallon tank once they grow up. You shouldn't add any more fish, other cichlids or otherwise to the tank.

And totally ignore that inch per gallon crap for any tank. But especially where large fish like Oscars is concerned or where aggressive fish, like Oscars, is concerned. It's totally and completely bogus.

You have two Oscars in a 30?!!!!! AGH!!!They are too much for that as it is. Oscars can get really big, mine is about 8 or 9 inches and it still has growing to do. Oscars are also very territorial. The minimum size for ONE Oscar is 55 gallons and only sometimes are two okay if they get along. 30 is TOO SMALL FOR EVEN ONE OSCAR. I have a Tiger Oscar and he's only a little over a year old. I have a 30 gallon that has one T-Bar Cichlid in it and a Jack Dempsey. I am putting my T-Bar in a 10 gallon later today because the two of them are too much for a 30 gallon also. The T-Bar would be fine for the 30 on his own because they only get to be about 4 inches maybe, sometimes only a little over 3. My Jack Dempsey is over 5 inches but he's a jerk like all Dempseys are so he has torn the T-Bar to shreds. (I didn't choose to put them together by the way, my boyfriend got them from a friend at work who didn't want them anymore and we had no choice for a little while) If you only have a 30 gallon tank you cannot get any more fish for it unless they are relatively small bottom feeders or they are food for the Oscars. If you do not want the Oscars anymore, fish shops and specialty stores would take them, usually for store credit or something like that. There are websites devoted to fans of Oscars and Cichlids and they will have all the answers you need about everything. The sizes of the different breeds, which ones go together, what water type they need, which other non-cichlid fish they might get along with. Search "Oscar cichlid info" on google and you'll find it. Not all cichlids can work together because they usually come from three (sometimes four) different areas. There are central and south american cichlids and there are african cichlids. These two DO NOT mix. They require different water types. The African ones even differ from each other because there are three different lakes that they come from. So, do a google search on Oscars, get a larger tank or get rid of both Oscars for their own sake, and do not put anything else in there without a lot of research. Best of luck to you and I hope all your fish live long, healthy lives!!!!!!! oh and that inch per gallon thing only applies to fish that stay one inch long and even then it's not smart to do. common mistake.

Your tank is already overcrowded. Give the Oscars to someone who knows how to care for them. Then find out what sort of Cichlids you can keep in a thirty. Certainly not any African Rift Lake Cichlids except the smallest types,Julididchromis species,or Shell Dwellers.(Not very many of these.) Amazon Dwarf Cichlids would be OK in a thirty. Ramerizii,or Cacatuides. Cichlids really need larger tanks.

Hats off to Fin, properly mentioned. you won't be able to long term that jack dempsey in a 30 gallon tank sir, and no offence, you're able to understand this already with your adventure. yet smaller ended cichlids will paintings. i would not say shop alot, yet something like a Kribensis could be effective. you in simple terms can no longer in simple terms positioned cichlids that advance out previous 4-5 inches in there, and anticipate them to outlive. i might additionally reccomend in case you lean in direction of 4-5 inch, grownup selection cichlids, stick to a minimum of one species in user-friendly terms. you have adequate to try this, yet including distinctive species, you're fiddling with hearth, and a variety of of species will pay a heavy cost whilst it includes aggression. you could maintain it below administration for awhile, yet you would be protecting a tank crammed with rigidity on anybody day in and outing. I shop and now breed electric powered Yellows. no longer severe on aggression scale, yet no longer confusing to maintain. frequently uncomplicated to intercourse as properly. nutrients plan sensible, they are no longer relatively choosy. I also have a one hundred eighty gallon tank besides the undeniable fact that, so I do have a mixture of the two Mbuna and Haps. In a 30 gallon tank, you won't have this manner of determination.
