What would be the easiest fish or something in a saltwater marsh to take care of?

There are several varieties of killifish that live in salt marshes around the US. Most are fairly hardy and easy to care for in an aquarium. Before you start collecting though, be sure you have supplies on hand to mix the proper specific gravity for the fish. That can really vary depending on the time and location you collect the fish. I would also suggest you check to be sure what fish are legal to collect in your state and what methods are legal. For example in many states it's illegal to catch game fish with a net and in some states it's illegal to collect anything from salt marshes.

Depending on where you are you may find guppies, least killifish (actually a livebearer), mollies and a wide variety of dwarf sunfishes, just to name a few.

Spot tail bass and Diamond back terrapins are the most common as well as the crabs and shrimp and are easy to care for.

Some smaller species of sharks will enter the marshes but are slow and do not adapt well to tanks, even the smaller ones.

Since some of the marshes are higher in salt than the ocean the fish which come in for breeding food or other reasons, you will have to be sure to match the salinity then bring it down.

Bluefins and western banded killfish or "pupfish" may be harder to find than you think. They usually won't hang around in the marshes and prefer the rivers, lakes and streams. You can order them on line and find more info about these fish at the link below.

South Carolina Marine Recreational Fisheries Stamp is required to remove any fish or creature from the salt marshes

California and florida also has requirements since most are protected wetlands. Check to be sure first.

Good luck
