I love Bala Sharks, just never have the space to keep them. 75 Gallons is plenty of room. I suggest you get some Scissor-tailed Rasboras for tank mates. Bala Sharks and Scissor-tails will swim together. It is pretty cool. Bala Sharks are very peaceful and mix well with Rasboras and other community fish. They are a schooling fish and like to be kept in groups. They do grow to be over a foot long so keep a small group or just a pair.

Bala sharks are very cool looking fish, I have always enjoyed them. I have owned them in the past, but don't currently have any. The good is that they aren't very aggressive despite their size, the bad is their schooling nature and their size. They can easily hit 10" in a tank and prefer to be in groups of 4-6 or even more. I would suggest 4 for your tank and a few fair sized tank mates. They would make an awesome centerpiece display for a 75 though.

Both of these fish get very big, and balas are very social so unless you want mostly them I would go with something else. they also really like to jump so get a good lid if you get these
The "silver cat" or irridesent shark gets really big and isn't as social as the bala and are generally very gentle fish.. however as they age they generally have a lot of eye problems and usually go blind they also scare easily , and can hurt them selves in a mad dash into the side of the tank.. so if you have young children I wouldn't recommend them...

I had a few silver/bala sharks, they are really cool fish, they are not aggressive but very interesting to look at, i recommend getting more than 1 though, they tend to thrive in groups, i also recommend feeding them brine shrimp, silver/bala sharks are very cool

I love my two bala sharks I have had them for over 2 years now! Silver sharks to me are more delicate, they were harder to care for! That's just my experience!

They would make a great addition for a 75 gallon tank. Make sure you have a tight-fitting cover, becuse they can jump out quite easily. Also keep in mind that they can grow up to a footo, so about 4 or 5 would make a great centerpiece in your tank. Don't house them with smaller fish, as they might eat them or maybe get agressive towards them.

Promise you its not stress. I have three silvers in a 50 gal. But keep in mind, Silvertips do require brackish aquariums as they grow, or they will die. Is your aquarium brackish? I suppose not. They are sold in pet stores as freshwater, but do require aquarium salt in their aquarium to thrive. Bala sharks don't like Brackish either by the way. Maybe the Balas ate your silver-tip. Oh, and I should mention silvers ARE schooling fish, which means stress may have killed them. Please respond with your email if you'd like to have me email you :)

They are pretty good fish but they like to jump out of the tank. Make sure you have a secure lid on it or they might get out. I had four and one by one they came up missing during the night. I thought it was my cat enjoying a meal. When we moved the tank, we found two of them. They had decided to jump out. I quickly invested in a lid and the other two lived to a ripe old age. They also love fresh blood worms and shrimp. If you don't want to deal with the fresh ones in your fridge, you can get frozen tablets about the size of ice cubes. They work just as well.
