How long could guppie fry survive under water? do they need to come to the water for air/ My breeder box sunk with the lid on it i managed to get it up and they seem ok.

No they do not need to come up for air,the only fish that do that are labyrinth fish like a betta all other fish including your guppies breath through their gills.They should be fine.

If they are coming up for oxygen, then the oxygen level in your tank must be low. Add an air stone in it, that'll increase the oxygen supply. All guppy fry need to stay underwater, or else they'll suffocate just like any other fish.

As long as the tank has adequate oxygen (caused by water movement from a filter or airstone) and there was water movement within the breeder, they can survive indefinitely (as long as they have access to food and the tank is cleaned).

A few hours wouldn't hurt them.

there may not be enough oxygen in the tank if they are coming up for air. Put some airstones in the tank to increase the oxygen level.
