I have a 30 gal bow front tank and I'd like to put as many fish in as possible. I've heard of overcrowding with cichlids but i would like some suggestions on how many I should put in the aquarium.
I would appreciate y'alls feedback.

Many African cichlids are to aggressive for your tank size but your could try yellow labs which are more peaceful than some other types or shell dweller is also a good suggestion. If you went with yellow labs for example you should put one male with 3 or 4 females. .A pair of convicts or firemouths would also love your tank but they are central American cichlids

The cichlids would be very territoral and for all of us to be satisfied they're going to need thier own area. in case you presently have 6 precise now in a ten gallon then you definately would desire to feed them plenty and you're fortunate to no longer have any ineffective fish. each and each fish will in all hazard take a least 4 gallons of area interior the water a chew so as which ability you need to upload 2 greater cichlids. make confident they are an identical length because of the fact the different ones. on each occasion they become old they'd kill one yet another, if this occurs do no longer replace them. Chilids are common to reproduce plenty and in the past long your complete tank would be crammed with chilids after which you dont would desire to hassle related to the shortcoming of fish.

It depends on what kind of Cichlid. If you are going to keep Shell Dwellers, don't overstock, but some more aggressive Cichlids need to be overstocked to distribute the dominant fish's anger.

The general rule of thumb is one inch of fish per gallon of water, however cichlids are territorial and therefore need more space.

I don't know what kind of fish your thinking of getting but you could get a small group of 4 or 5 Demasoni Cichlids. These Lake Malawi Cichlids are fairly small, mild mannered and do best if kept in small groups.
