I have two Dojo Loaches (Weather Loaches). They favorites in our tank! They are so cute with their little front flippers. I did realize recently that they eat snails (may the 2 they ate rest in peace, we were unaware they snack on your kind). Who else has these things and loves them? If you do, any good stories?

Im a fish grandma! This is wonderful but great all at the same time. I walked in my room, saw something wiggling around, it was a swordtail fry!!! I ended up only finding 2, but I put them in the breeders net. The bad thing about this is I onyl have a ten gallon, because when I bought them, I though sts were just a version of platy! Then I thought they were swordtail platy crosses cause they werent growing very fast, so i was glad cause that would mean they are sterle. So my supposed swordtail cross has been getting fat, and ive been treating for bloat!!! That is until I saw 2 fry!!! Now I have the male, the female, and 2 fry! Im not allowed 2 get a bigger tank!!!!!!!
Ok so a few question
There is a very small miniscule chance that I can get a 20 gallon long, but thats pushing it, but how many swordtails can go in this? ill get a tank divider and divide the sexes if needed.
Also, I feed my fish frozen brine shrimp, flakes, and peas, I know I can feed the fry the peas and finely crus

My kids wanted to get a pet so I figured a fish would be a nice solution. I ended up starting small... 1 gallon fish tank that has a bubbler thing and a platform on the bottom that is supposed to help keep the tank clean by letting the debris go through, some rocks, a little home and a small plastic plant. The fish they chose was a gold colored feeder fish (I am assuming that is what they are called since it was a total of .16 cents.) My kids, 6 and 4 love this fish. Today it has been acting a bit off. We have had 'her' for about 2 weeks now and I noticed it wasn't wanting to swim, doesn't eat when I put a few flakes in. I siphoned the bottom of tank, and changed some of the water, also cleaned the home and plant. I let the fish sit in another bowl with some of the old and new water for about an hour while the tank ran again so I was sure it was ok for it to go back in. Anyhow now the fish is active, but still not eating, also seems to float a bit with its head down. Any help please?

I bought three angel fish yesterday and today two die. They were in a lighthouse ornament I have in the tank then one died and then about an hour later the other one died, I also have two goldfish and a a scavenger in the tank... And before you go blaming my Jeeves "that's the scavenger" he doesn't bother anyone. The third angel is just floating near the top of the water.

Is there anyway to tell when she will have them? I have been watching her closely and she has been pretty fat for about a week now... It is getting close to our spring break and I will be gone from home for a few days and I am worried she may have them while I am gone, I do have her in a breader where the babies can fall down slots to keep them a little more out of her way but is there anything extra I can do to keep the fry out of harm if she does have them??

I recently decided to re-start an aquarium I shut down during a move. I set everything up, added a couple of hardy fish, and waited for the cycle to begin. It began, but it won't finish! After the ammonia spiked, my starter fish started showing signs of ich (likely a result of the stress of the ammonia spike). In order to treat it, I removed the fish from the aquarium, and used Quick Cure on the fish (I didn't add any Quick Cure to the aquarium, as the chemicals in it kill beneficial bacteria). I then upped the temperature in the aquarium, and let it sit for a couple of weeks so the ich would run through the life cycle without hosts and die out.

After a couple of weeks, I lowered the temp, and hoped to reintroduce the fish to the aquarium. The problem is, the ammonia levels won't drop. The ammonia has been at a peak for over a month now, and there is no sign of the development of Nitrite/Nitrate, leading me to assume the tank is "stuck" in the ammonia spike.

Anyone have advice?

My fish tank has some pretty tough foggy/white stains on it. I used pickle juice, a bleach water mix, some degreaser, a razer and a glass aqua scrubber. No luck though. How do I bring out that nice clear glass look?

Don't be mad at me for using the degreaser (i'm desparate), plus I used just a little and rinsed it well
