Can you refill a fish tank with bottled water without treating it, or do you have to use neutralized tap water?

Thanks

I believe it to be a catfish of some sort, but have had no luck identifying it on the web. It was sold to me as a "Blue Whale" and I was told it would grow to be no bigger than 3 inches. Well, its 56 years later and about 6 inches long. Would like to identify so I can create a natural invironment in it's new 100gl. tank (to get him out of his now 40gl. home) Thanks

We had a Tiger Oscar that passed away after many years of being a huge (and I mean huge) part of our family. We want to start another big fish tank with cichlids, but don't want them to get as big as oscars get.

I am just starting out (innocently bought 3 goldfish for my kids one day, ended up upgrading to a 30 gal. tank!) I have a Fluval 5 filter with carbon wafer, and good lighting etc.

I have a 1.5" orange Fantail Goldfish, a 1.0" Black Moor, and a 2" Ryukin. (sizes are lengths, inclusive of fins, tails, etc.)

I added one mystery snail, and recently, 2 chinese algae eaters, to control algae.

My questions are: 1) can I add one or two small Pearlscale goldfish (knowing I may have to upgrade later!)

2) are Pearlscale goldfish pond-friendly in cold climates?

3) will they all get along?

Thanks in advance for your help everyone!

This isn't a joke! Even if it seems like it, really!

My fish tank is really big. (About 5 feet long and two feet deep)

Anyway this fish that is about twice the size of any of the others will randomly come out of the plants/algae and swim up to the surface really really fast and then just go back down to the plant again.

I don't have any other fish that look like it, and we haven't gotten any new ones. It wasn't there yesterday.

What the hell?

I have Neon Tetras, and I noticed the other night they pretty much lost their coloring, I was afraid at first it was Neon Tetra disease, but It was very very late and I hadn't had alot of sleep so I opted to go to bed and look at them with rested eyes. because there wasnt anything I could of done anyway. I came back the next morning and their color had returned to its full glory so I chalked it up to me being Tired.

Then tonight I was about to go to bed and I looked at them agian and they are pale agian.

so am I crazy or is this like a natural defence thing that I just havent read about or is this a sympton of Neon tetra disease that I havnt found out about?

What gives man?

I have a problem with yellow algae in my 55 gal reef, due to the metal halides and cf's. I have mushroom coral, leather coral, and an anemone. If I put in a UV sterilizer will it starve the coral and anemone, since they need symbiotic algae to eat ? In other words, does a UV sterilizer kill the same type of algae that corals need to survive? thanks

There is this strange white substance in the bottom of my beta tank. It looks like a bunch of cotton resting on the gravel. It has gathered mostly around peices of food at the bottom. What is it and how do I get rid of it? How do I prevent it?

My fish tank has some pretty tough foggy/white stains on it. I used pickle juice, a bleach water mix, some degreaser, a razer and a glass aqua scrubber. No luck though. How do I bring out that nice clear glass look?

Don't be mad at me for using the degreaser (i'm desparate), plus I used just a little and rinsed it well

While getting some feeder fish at Petco the other day, I saw an absolutely gorgeous betta. I didn't have anywhere to keep him at the time, so I left him there, but when he was there the next time I went, I had to buy him. I've never seen one this color and pattern before. Can someone help me figure out what he's called?

He's greenish blue with a black face and white over where his gills are. Around each of his scales is a darker blue-black net pattern. His fins (except for the top one) are the color of his body half way and then white.

Here are some pictures of him.

If I decide to breed him to try to get more this color, what color female should I get?

My cat got ahold of my dwarf hamster and hurt it. She slid the aquarium off the table and it broke the top. I have another one, but i am afraid she will do it again. She doesn't seem to want to hurt her. I think it is mostly curiosity. Or it could look like a snack puzzle to the cat.
