We had two goldfish and one of them died a few hours ago; now the other one is swimming quickly and erratically around on one side of the aquarium tapping against the glass. It looks excited... or something. It used to swim around slower and in a wider area. Could something be wrong with it?

I have a male Betta fish. I got him about two months ago. I kinda get the impretion that he's lonely. But when I enter the room and am near the tank he comes over and actually ackowledes me. He seems happy to me but I just feel like he's lonely. I have a 1.5 gallon tank with a filter. Plus a sunken ship that he can move through and one plant.

Is my cousin's used aquarium rocks, filter, and decor okay to use for a new aqarium if her fish died of a fungus infection? And I think poor water quality was also the cause. These are the only factors as far as I know.

I posted a question on here the other day explaining a dilemma about her killing her fish because of ignorance of their needs. I was unable to save them for her. :( But anyway, her fish died..and she gave me the tank and all of the stuff that was in it.

Is it okay to use it if the cause of death was just a fungus outbreak? Or if we're assuming the worst, how can I safely disinfect the rocks and decor to make it ready for a new tank?

Her tank was freshwater. She also had Goldfish. Thanks for the help! :)

like ive said in my previous post...my beta is ill. If he gets any worsei want to put him out of his misery and wanted to know the best way to do this?
ive reserched on the web and most people say to mix in clove oil, and then to drop the fish into an almost frozen glass of water?
is the correct? does it hurt the fish?
how much clove oil per litre/gal is reguired??
is there a better method i could use.
i wouldnt be able to cut he's head off/stamp on him/ throw him against something or anything like that, im not willing to do that so please dont sugest it
thanks

my beta,i think, has dropsy.Hes stomach is swollen, scales dont stick out, but ive seen photos with betas wth dropsy & he looks simular. Sometimes there is a brownish liquid coming from his stomach too?
hes recently got fungus above his eye, which ive rea can be a result of the fish having another illness.
im treating him for both of these with salt baths, anti fungus & dropsy meds.
he doesnt swim as much as he used to, his colour is duller, he used to chase my finger and puff up at mirrors and he dusnt do any of this now. his fins are droopy and hes looks upset. but he does still swin about sometimes, he still comes to the side of the tank when he knows im in the room, & his still being his greedy self and eating everything that comes his way.
I dont want to sit & watch him die, if hes in pain id rather have him "put down" or kill him myself. So im jus woundering what you guys think? i no dropsy is rare to cure and hes shown no signs of improvment yet, but hasnt got any worse?

My fiance just got me a brand new 2 gallon tank, but I already have 2 beta tanks. Is there anything else that I can put in there by itself or should I just go for a really fancy beta?

I have a 5 gallon spare tank and it has a good filter in it. I wanted to get a betta. I have 5 bettas already (not together, hehe.)
I was wondering, and I'm sorry if this seems pointless, but... what color and type do you prefer?
Blue CT
Red CT
Blue Regular
Red Regular

Thanks!

I recently purchased a fancy goldfish for my kitchen side. I put it in a regular sized fishbowl, with pebbles at the bottom, and a little shell i bought from a local Petco.

However, he just sinks to the bottom and doesn't move. I have put anti stress drops in there, but still he doesn't seem interested.

When I put food in, he will take it, but thats all.

I'm curious as to if anything is wrong.

The tank is still clean but I looked at it a few minutes ago and it has what I thought were bubbles but when I got close they are little bug looking thing in the water. Does any one know what this could be! It is pretty gross and I don't want it to kill my fish. He seems fine. Help!

i have a 75 gallon tank with 6 large goldfish,2 african dwarf frogs,2 small suncats aprox 6 inches long ,i had a good amount of live plants in the tank . my filter clogged on some of the plant waste .my water began to cloud requiring me to clean the foam block,i tested the water when i saw the smaller suncat appeared to have hazy skin color,he now seems to be peeling, with 1 reddish sore on its back he eats fine and seems fine other than scrapping the rocks. by the way the ammonia level spiked to 8.0(ouch)
i did a 20 gallon water swap and treated with amquel+ the level is now down to 1.5 does it seem that the fish has amonnia burns or could that be something else since no other fish have any signs. i will do 10 more gallons today and retest

I set up a new aquarium about 6 weeks ago. I have been testing the water for PH and ammonia levels regularly. I just checked it tonight and the level is over 9.5, it should be 7.0

Will this drop as the tank matures or do I need to do something now before I lose any fish?
