Can you refill a fish tank with bottled water without treating it, or do you have to use neutralized tap water?

Thanks

You don't have to use neutralized tap water, but it's cheaper!

With bottled water (distilled, reverse osmosis) beneficial minerals, like calcium and magnesium are removed.

Spring water can vary in pH and minerals, so you'd need to use the same kind each time. Many are just bottled tap water, so you're paying more for what you've already got.

Don't regard this as a final answer because I truly don't know. What I do know is that tap water has chlorine and flouride, both of which are poisons. There are many bottled waters that do not have chemicals(although some do, read the lable), so I would guess that bottled water would be better for the fish. Also, there are droplets or tablets you can get from the pet store that you put in the water and it makes the water more liveable for the fish, but I'm unfamiliar with those as well. In fact, the pet store employees would know the answer to your question.

I hope you get better answers from experts here. It's a good question!

Water for your tank is best from the tap. Allow the water to age (set) at least 24 hours before introducing fish.
Chemicals in your tap water are active agents that lose their potentcy after this period. I often change my water with no problems. However, my fish are established. As I said above this is with new fish and tank. I have been raising oscars and alligator gars for years. Keep tanking. Bandit.

I often shop faucet water in bottle for an afternoon or extra to eliminate its chloride. And it works nice for me. If tank turns into no longer so sparkling, i will then positioned bottled water in it yet I end that using fact it style of sounds like a waste of unpolluted water for me.

Bottled water works just fine you just need to treat it as you would ordinary water (because that's all it is)
