Im a fish grandma! This is wonderful but great all at the same time. I walked in my room, saw something wiggling around, it was a swordtail fry!!! I ended up only finding 2, but I put them in the breeders net. The bad thing about this is I onyl have a ten gallon, because when I bought them, I though sts were just a version of platy! Then I thought they were swordtail platy crosses cause they werent growing very fast, so i was glad cause that would mean they are sterle. So my supposed swordtail cross has been getting fat, and ive been treating for bloat!!! That is until I saw 2 fry!!! Now I have the male, the female, and 2 fry! Im not allowed 2 get a bigger tank!!!!!!!
Ok so a few question
There is a very small miniscule chance that I can get a 20 gallon long, but thats pushing it, but how many swordtails can go in this? ill get a tank divider and divide the sexes if needed.
Also, I feed my fish frozen brine shrimp, flakes, and peas, I know I can feed the fry the peas and finely crus

lol about the clouded eye, its the water temperature is low.
Also dont worry about over crouding the tank with sword tails lol. They will be fine, these gaint size tanks that people recomend are for people who have a lot of money and are willing to spend it on a pet store. If you wanna buy a 20 gallon tank you can have up to 9 sword tails in there lol. If you dont want to mate simply remove the fry and throw um away or give um back to the fish store. My flower horns mate very often and make around 2000 babys each time. I simply remove the eggs and make cavier out of them lol jk i throw um away or give them to the fish store

if you omly have the 2 adults the babies could easily stay in the 10 gal for a while but its best to give them LIVE brine shrimp(the babies)

Heh,and you'll keep finding more. ^_-

Wardley's makes a lovely egg-based fry food in a tube. You can find it at most pet stores and it's fairly cheap. It'll also last you forever.
