Does anyone know a site or store I can get a cheap 10 gallon tank and lighted hood? Maybe under $20-25 if possible.

Wal-Mart actually has cheap tanks like that. But, really, the best place I have found... your local classifieds. I got a 20 gallon tank (with all the accessories) for $20 and I am about to get a $30 gallon tank with all its stuff for $40. So, you would be surprised what you can find.

Spring clean up means I get at least 2-3 free 10 gallon tanks and one larger one. Then Freecycle. Then Craig's List. I generally barter what I garbage pick with others.

i go to Craigslist and browse through the stuff for sale all the time in hopes of catching cheap tanks. people are always starting up fish tanks and losing interest, which means alot of full kits come up in the classifieds from people just wanting to "get rid of the whole mess." usually they ask a reasonable price and sometimes they'll just go for a good offer. don't know if this holds true in all areas though :)

I would also suggest looking through local chapters of this group - everything is for FREE! http://www.freecycle.org/
Also any local aquarium clubs, yard sales, and classifieds in the paper.
