Is there anyway to tell when she will have them? I have been watching her closely and she has been pretty fat for about a week now... It is getting close to our spring break and I will be gone from home for a few days and I am worried she may have them while I am gone, I do have her in a breader where the babies can fall down slots to keep them a little more out of her way but is there anything extra I can do to keep the fry out of harm if she does have them??

Unfortunately if you're going to be absent and she doesn't have them before then all you can do is what you're already doing.

i even have plattys in a 55g community tank..... ......i found they have been breeding yet ingesting their fry as quickly as they have been born, as they do! It took my months and months to get some to stay, and that i now have 3 surviving fry. I only enable nature take its path

I use to spawn swardtails. Sounds like you are doing as much as you can. Platies are the same.
