Fish - February 2007

I plan on getting a blue crayfish, but I would also like to keep a small school in with him. I've read up on this a lot, I know it can be dangerous if you just throw some fish in with crayfish. I know I need top dwelling fish and ones that are pretty speedy. I just can't decide exactly what I want. I'm looking for a school of about 5 or 6 fish, no bigger than 2.5inches, smaller would be better, I already have figured what my tank can support.

so my question is, if you were going to buy a fish that doesn't get bigger than 2.5in, schools, is fast, and is a top dweller, what would you get? remember I need tropical fish, not marine or cold water.

and I will do research on each fish I consider, I am rather experienced at keeping fish and know not to jump into anything without proper research. so if you have sites about the fish you recommend that would save me some trouble of searching.

my mom brought fish it was bout 4 of them, 3 eventually died because of my father when he clean the fish tank.anyway so am left with one, we had him for awhile. we felt bad that is just him so we brought new ones, the next morning they were all dead. so we put in new ones again and feed him before we did it. the next morning the we also dead. i am comin to the conclusion to get rid of him and get new ones.

I have 2 balas and 6 Barbs And a Kissing gourami. Well i got him yesterday and he is still lying on the floor in the back of the tank. He moves I can see him. But He just sits there. What might it be? And, will it go away?

Hi all, got some sea monkeys, set the tank up about 5 hours ago and added the water purifier and used bottled drinking water (not tap). Do you think it would be ok to add the sea monkeys now or should i wait 24 hours. Thanks :-)

i just bought and set up a new aquarium...looked great the first few days..all of a sudden...it's cloudy and the water smells..i only have 2 fish at this point and gave barely a pinch of food...i have also taken out 25% of the water out twice!!!.what can i do to fix this problem???

They are in my aquarium for 6 months. Three of them already died from a total of 24 all angelfishes . The turbulence is caused by my water filter/aerator which is set to high pressure.

It seems all I have is females and not any male guppies in that tank of mine, I started off with one male and four female guppies 7 months ago, and so I am wondering if a female guppy can decide which to give the most birth too, no males and more females, Can this happen?

my betta i have had him for 10 months and this had never happen before . all of a sudden he didn't eat and he lookes kinda sick. n i think he got a bacterial infection so im gonna get him medication, and i put some aquari-sol but nothing happen. he jsut sits at the bottom n only getting up to get air and not eating the food. will he die ? ;[ and will he die since he is not eating any food ?

My betta has been staying on top of the water surface.. alll day just sitting there. H e barely swims. Just bloows his bubbles in the corner.. and no.. there is no female so he wouldnt try to make a nest. I'm a beginner and have 2 Tiger Barbs and 2 Giant Danios. However, I got them at walmart and both are probably 1/2"-1" long. When i went to Petsmart today I saw the Tiger Barbs and Giant Danios and they were nothing cmpared to the ones I have. I'm guessing it's because walmart got the young ones. Any idea how long it will take them to reach their full size?

10 gallon tank which had a Red Devil (just died recently) gets cloudy water by morning almost every day. I never shut tank off. By the time I turn the light on aroiund 6 pm at night, water is almost crystal clear. Light stays on for 5 hours tops and is dark until daylight. By morning it's back again. Tank is near a window but no direct sun. Just did major partial having set water aside for 24 hours with ager to adjust for chloramines. Tank has been empty for three days now and problem still exists even after partial.did filter change and power housing cleanout to be sure. Can't figure what is going on. Help!
