I plan on getting a blue crayfish, but I would also like to keep a small school in with him. I've read up on this a lot, I know it can be dangerous if you just throw some fish in with crayfish. I know I need top dwelling fish and ones that are pretty speedy. I just can't decide exactly what I want. I'm looking for a school of about 5 or 6 fish, no bigger than 2.5inches, smaller would be better, I already have figured what my tank can support.

so my question is, if you were going to buy a fish that doesn't get bigger than 2.5in, schools, is fast, and is a top dweller, what would you get? remember I need tropical fish, not marine or cold water.

and I will do research on each fish I consider, I am rather experienced at keeping fish and know not to jump into anything without proper research. so if you have sites about the fish you recommend that would save me some trouble of searching.

thanks!

Brooke101rocks, that was rather distasteful. I think eating crayfish is just cruel. they're so tiny it's not like it's a great source of meat. I've had crayfish as pets before and would never eat them.

killifish, but never underestimate a crawfish's ability to catch any fish.

Killifish or hatchetfish would probably be the best answers. They are generally fairly quick and stay far to the top water area and out of the crayfishes way for the most part. No guarantees though, a tempted crayfish can surprise you in it's ability to catch fish.

Try danios. Those guys are really quick and could easily outswim your crayfish. There are different types but they all would work.

I've had crawfish pasta so you can eat it if it doesn't work out
