I have to agree with liberal, what on earth does your fish have that you cannot nurse it back to health?
Local mom and pop stores sometimes do and will take a sick fish. (I am not talking walmart or petco, petsmart). Depending on the type of fish it is. To be honest, if it is a goldfish, tetra or other common fish, more than likely they are going to pitch it in the trash or use it as food for another fish, depending on what it has. (Yep they will).
Why don't you rewrite your question, or im /emal myself or others and perhaps we can help.
You need to know exactly what is wrong with your fish before you can treat him.

ok,if you're new to fish i tips you study sparkling an aquarium previously than you get inspite of... Even the tank. good considering it quite is in basic terms too previous due as i visit work out, then i provide you countless options. try cleansing the clear out with a enamel brush (an historic one), sparkling the interior and the tube on the bottom that sucks the water with it. ensure the comb received't smash the tube! It occurred to me once. For the lank, get a spunge (man or woman who has not been used and has no cleansing soap) and take the tank to the storage. If u have a hose then turn it on extreme (so it may nicely be jet water) and rince the glass of the aquarium, if it does not come off though use the spunge. wish this helps:)

You're right that it is not right to donate sick fish to stores/give them away. What you should do is buy all the things you can to give them the best possible life before they pass away. I mean, if you were sick, you would not want someone dumping you in the trash or hurting you. Be nice. : ) It is always the best way to live. Give them plenty of food and nice, clean conditions. I'm not sure if you believe in god, but he would thank you for it....the fish sure will.

No, a pet store cannot take a sick fish. They can't put it in their tanks and risk infecting their own fish. And if they have a medical tank, they need it for their own fish.
If you have a fish that you are unable to nurse back to health, you should do the humane thing and put them down. There are safe ways to do this to make it more peaceful for them.

I was at a fish shop the other day and saw the resident barramundi dining on the sickly looking fish , so not a good idea. Call Dr Harry.

i suggest to first talk to the store manager or the person who is charge of the aquariums . let the person know your position on how you tried your best to bring this fish back to health and how you couldnt .. and ask if they could . or maybe somebody could take it in .. if you want to continue trying to help this fish you should isolate the fish in its own tank and drop some multi purpose meds . raise the heat a tad and leave the light off .. do not disturb the fish .. this should help .

The pet store may know how to care for them to bring them back to health.Or ask a vet or someone that has fish.

The pet stores won't want them. The people at the store may know customers who would be interested in trying to save them, especially if they are a rare species. Otherwise, it's a lost cause.
