Her top beak is broken off and the bottom is dangling. For the last few days she's had her mouth partially open like she does when she has just taken in some food, but isn't eating. What can I do for her?

I hate to tell you this, but there is nothing you can do for her. She might heal enough to be able to eat again, but I seriously doubt it. If she hasn't eated within a week to 10 days and is still alove you will need to euthanize her.

So sorry about your fish, those are really neat little fish

save the broken off piece of beak if you can find it . Use some styptic or cornstarch or flour to help stop the bleeding. It may be possible to glue the broken beak in place using a superglue. You need two people , one to hold the bird in place and the other to do the gluing. A vet should have a medical version of superglue that might be safer for the bird. If you dont have the broken part , it may be possible to make a false beak out of plastic or one of the baked ceramics like FIMO clay and glue it to the stub of the beak . Many vets dont work on such small birds. You may be able to feed the bird anyway by offering a mash on a spoon , or a feeding syringe. Oatmeal can be an emergency food. A paste of water and seeds crushed will work too. Crush the seeds dry and blow lightly to remove the husks. A pet store might have a formula for baby birds . It may even be able to feed out of a small dish by using its tongue and upper beak . Good luck.

I researched this and I found that under stress..such as tankmates can easily stress these to where they break they’re beaks off running into the tank. It states that this is common and that they do recover within time if they are out of the enviroment that caused it. Good Luck!

Call or visit the store where you bought her. I've found that my local stores are very helpful when I have problems.
