I have not seen any droppings in my betta fish bowl. He does not look swollen and acts perfectly normal. I have gravel at the bottom of the bowl (not alot) so I'm wondering if its just cause the gravel covers it, or is it too small to be seen or....he is constipated~ I'm just wondering what betta droppings looking like

Yesterday i got a betta fish(male). and today I got 2 betta fighting fish(Male)(Female). Both males are pretty shy and get scared easily but the female is calmed. How can i make the males more active. I have small vases for each of them. The male is on 1 side the female is in the middle and the male is on the other side. Both males cannot see each other. I am trying to breed them. How will i know which male the female wants to mate with. Are there any signs of which female give when their ready to mate? Also do all males make bubblenest and if all dont how will i know when the male is ready to mate. Thank you

I have two tanks, a 29 gallon tank and 20 gallon tank. I have goldfish: one large oranda, two small orandas, a ranchu, and two lionheads. I had to move my fish with me to school in VA because I live in Florida. My tanks were all established and cycled when I was home, but when I got here I didn't want to put my fish through another cycle. Basically in one tank I'm not letting it cycle and I have all the fish in it and I'm doing 100% water changes daily. The other one I am doing a fishless cycle on (with ammonia drops). In the tank where the fish are in (they're all in the 29 gallon) I added ammo chips, but when I tested the water ammonia was still present. Does it only convert it and not remove it? If so how do I know when the chips can't absorb anymore ammonia? I just don't want my fish to have to go through a cycle and I don't know of a better way to do it. I've tried having them live in buckets and changing the water every few hours but I live In a dorm and its time consuming

I noticed that there was a weird build-up in my fish tank that was also on the plant, thermometer, and heater. I'm not really sure what caused it or how to get rid of it. I had a really hard time getting it off the heater and plant.
Does anyone know how to get rid of it, or if it's dangerous to my fish?
Thanks!

I had a snail that (I think) died in the fishtank and just vanished suddenly from its shell..do gold fish eat snails? Just before he vanished I noticed he had some cracks in his shell...was that an indication that it would be dead soon? It's gone and I don't see a body anywhere...did it disolve or something?

I had fish in it a month ago but they died due to the high ph. I have applied the ph lowering kit but it just rises back up the next day. There are no fish in it as the local pet shop said anything will just die and can't seem to be of any further help!! I have done all the water changes etc etc and nothing works. Can anyone help me as this was a xmas pressie for my son and we still have no fish. I have tested the ph in my tap water (town supply) and it is very high and seems resistant to change.

My fish just died. he was a betta and i went to check on him and he is at the bottom and is all white. i shook the tank and he didn't move. i am sad, yet a little exited. i HATED him. i hated having to feed him and change his bowl and everything about him. except he was a present from my cousin. i don't know what do do with his dead body. i know i should flush him down the toilet, but i know i won't be able to stand seeing him fall out from the bowl into the toilet. it will be soooooo discusting. i hate animals!! i can't belive this. i will never want another pet in my life! i hated this fish all along as well. please comfort me and tell me how to possibly flush him down the toilet.

My green sword tail female looks preganant, it is fat and has a black spot inside the belly. Its been like this for a while and has breed 3 months before, we have put it in one of the breed box things, but it never breeds, even now it still looks preganant. Does anyone have any ideas on why it might not be breeding?

10g tank. I have 2 tiger barbs now and 2 danios. The danios are getting nipped but they're quick enough to survive I think and eventually they'll outgrow the barbs and be ok. I still have room in my tank adn am looking to add some fish but I'm not sure what kind? Any ideas?

my friend recently gave me his 4 week old guppy fry and i don't know how often i am suppose to feed it. He told me once every other day, while websites and blogs have told me 4-8 times daily [but keep in mind they were talking about newborn guppy fry]. I don't want to overfeed little Winston, but i don't strave him.

to sum it up he is 4 weeks old and about a 1cm long, and i have Tropical fish terta flakes, how often should i feed winston?

My wifes Goldfish is sick and we called the vet and over the phone they told me that you can get some drops from Wal-Mart for it.So we did that and it seemed to have made it sicker. The fish is in one place just sittin at the bottom of the tank. With the cost of a trip to the vet verses the cost of the fish, what should we do?

It has been about three days sense I havent fed my two oscars, because I hurt my back real bad and doc. wants me on bed rest.Is there anything , anything at all I could feed them??I know about the beef heart, which I dont have. Ca'nt go outside and get worms. Can they eat bread , crackers..please help,, And another thing. Do they sleep. I have been wanting to ask this question for a long time.Do oscars sleep?? Because we have our oscars out by the kitchen and we shut off all the lights. Well, I get up at night to get something to drink.I will turn the lights on and both oscars are floating on top of the water on their side, like they are asleep. Then the light must scare them or something because they start to jump and splash. Lord, I've never seen this. I thought they was coming up out of the tank.So I figure they was asleep and the olighht came on and scared them. Does anybody agree????
