10g tank. I have 2 tiger barbs now and 2 danios. The danios are getting nipped but they're quick enough to survive I think and eventually they'll outgrow the barbs and be ok. I still have room in my tank adn am looking to add some fish but I'm not sure what kind? Any ideas?

Well, your danios are fine in a 10 gallon, but it's a little on the small side for tigers. If you cannot upgrade and will not get rid of the barbs, my suggestion would be for you to get more tiger barbs, like 3-4 more. If they are in larger groups, they will be less nippy towards other fish.
Then you could get another danio or two, because they like to school, and that would be the stocking limit of your tank.

If you like barbs but not necessarily tigers, why not cherry barbs? You could get 3 of those; they're very placid, then have 3 danios and maybe a dwarf gourami or a male betta.

A few more tiger barbs will help stop the nipping actually. Tiger barbs do best in a group of 5-6. You could also add a cory catfish or two, but as has been pointed out, the tiger barbs may eventually out grow the 10 gallon tank.

I think you should listen carefully to Zoe. If you've ever actually seen a grown Tiger barb (unfortunately rare since most people don't understand their needs) you would likely agree that a 10 gallon isn't appropriate. Plus when nippy fish are put into a tank too small, they only become worse.

The danios will always be smaller than the tiger barbs. The only things besides cat fish that would be safe with your barbs would be something very small and fast like neon or cardinal tetras. Definitely nothing that has long, flowing fins.

you are able to could commerce them in for much less agressive fish- whilst barbs are nevertheless comunity fish they choose to chase one yet another, and 5 galleons does not supply the "sufferers" lots room to swim away. you have extra effective luck with a small college (3-5) og guppies, neons, mollies, zebra danios or something comparable. in case you extremely need to maintain your barbs, attempt is to place some hiding places on your tank- puppy shops sell hollow adorns with holes for this objective. In a pinch you are able to positioned some sideways mugs to make "caves" merely confirm there is not any cleansing soap on them.

Decide if you want an aggressive tank or a passive tank. If agressive get some other kind of barb or some kissers. If passive get some angels, goldfish, etc. Send the others to that toilet bowl in the sky.
Do not take the word of the person at the fish store. His goal is to sell fish. If you go to a "good" store they may help you with compatability.
