My green sword tail female looks preganant, it is fat and has a black spot inside the belly. Its been like this for a while and has breed 3 months before, we have put it in one of the breed box things, but it never breeds, even now it still looks preganant. Does anyone have any ideas on why it might not be breeding?

Be sure you have given her enough ime before you get worried. It can take 28-30 days or even a little more for her to give birth.

she might be loaded with eggs not fry where's daddy, there live bearers maybe daddy firing blanks lol put some floating plants in and keep out of the way let her go, be realistic how many fry do you want you cant give them away straight away so how many tanks have you for a 100 or so fry every few months X whatever else that breeds nothing can accomplish failure faster than interfering a tip for successful breeding is to alternate the temperature say 78 for normal raise to 82 to encourage breeding it simulates the seasons I've bred most things from guppies to Oscars, live bearers, egg layers mouth brooders and only failed with using breading nets except for Siamese fighters but even then they must be able to enter and leave if they want. bubble nest

im confused, you are asking why its not breeding when its already pregnant....
It you are wondering why it isnt giving birth, check your water params and leave her alone she will hold them till she feels it is safe and the water conditions are right. You can also bump up the temp a bit

stable fish for breeding??? try Platys (or is the plural Platies???)... get the girls persons to outnumber the boys 3:a million Now you in basic terms would desire to have sufficient spots for the fry to conceal, OR have a seperate tank to strengthen them in (The grownup fish will attempt to eat them while small)... i discover the latter technique more suitable...

I've kept fish myself and they often seemed to swell up as if they were pregnant but then nothing appeared.

you might want to get your fish checked out by a perfessional or something.. cuz it might have something wrong with it.. and you just might not know it yet..
