When can you tell the sex of baby guppies ( Fry's) and when do they get there colors?

Hi! I have thirteen baby guppies and they are all 2 weeks and one day old and I was wondering when you can tell if they are female or males so that I can seperate them! And when do they get there colors?

if u look very closely the females will have a black/grey gravid spot on the under bellies.--best way to tell, i have seen them on just little 3 week olds. For the color it all depends on what type of food you feed them on how fast they get their color. Good Luck.

You can tell very early by looking at the anal fin. That's the fin under the fish. The males have a pointed fin and the females a much more rounded and softer looking fin. This trait is readily visible well before they get any significant amount of color. You can usually expect to see colors developing in about 3-4 weeks. It depends on how fast the fish are growing which depends on water temperature, water quality and what you are feeding as well as how often you are feeding. Lots of factors there to work with.

At about four months of age, you should be able to tell the males from the females. Males will develop more colorfully than females at about this age, but females will be bigger. Once you can tell which is which, it's best to separate them so they don't breed with eachother. Which they can do, even at such a young age.

adult males advance their coloration first. It take the girls individuals alot longer to coach coloration. The tails will advance. that is variety of like our hair..it takes a whilst for them to advance out. while you're nevertheless doubtful wait yet another month or 2 to be completely specific. in case you place them interior the biggest tank they'll breed. good luck :]
