what size is your fish tank and is it the filter? i had purchased a minibow1 from walmart and it had an undergravel filter powered by and air pump and an air stone. i just added more water and readjusted the bubbles, but that happened to me a few times so i freaked. its ok now after i adjusted the filter where the bubbles traveled and spreaded out into more open water surface. hope this helps a bit. if thats not the case maybe the filter is too big for the tank.

If you can give a few more details about the tank I can tell you much more. Could you tell us if you see the bubbles only in the morning or all day? What kind of fish do you have?

Frankly, most of the reasons for the bubbles are something in the water. It in a certain sense doesn't even matter what it is because it cure is the same. Change some water. changig out about 25-30% of the water in the tank once a week will most likely solve the bubble problem.

Best of luck with the new tank!

how long has your tank been cycling??? are you using a carbon filter?

you didn't wash anything in your tank with any type of soap or cleansers, did you? it could be soap bubbles. if you did, start over. make sure you rinse EVERYTHING as well as you can.

Did you add any fish medications recently? Some fish meds can cause bubbling at the top of the tank also!

also, if you haven't dechlorinated your water, then the chlorine can bubble as well. keep an eye on it, and see if you can link it to anything. is it doing it after you add any specific chemicals?

What kinds of fish are in the tank?

Had the same problem in my fifty five gallon tank. The fish pusher at the pet store says that he has never heard of too much oxygenation

High ammonia will cause lots of bubbles to form. Did you cycle the tank before putting in any fish?

Water is tooooo hard.
You can "soften" the water by filtering some through some peat, or buy a water conditioner at your local fish store.

My tank had many bubbles when i set it up also. After a couple days of filtering, they dissapeared.

fish do that so that they can lay their eggs in the bubbles, even if there isn't any eggs at the time. My fish does it too. just change the water out, but make sure the water is room temperture before you put your fish back in.

This could mean that there is high ammonia in the tank. Buy an ammonia testing kit and test the levels.

If you have a male fish it most likley built a bubble nest and is ready to breed that is all there is to it.
