Can 1 angel fish live with 5 guppies? What is the smallest aquarium suitable for that if possible?

And also, is it OK to feed them guppies? I have two large african cichlids and one large south american cichlid. Thanks.

i mean, when i go to the pet shop i always see them with huge filters, stuff that makes bubbles (lol) and basically tons of bulky stuff. I have a decent tank but dont want to buy all that if i dont need it. are there any fish that could live HAPPILY without it???

5 bettas, all dead within 5 days of each other. All in seperate,10 gallon tanks. Water params were perfect,no toxins were added to the water, filter going, plenty of air at the top, good food, comfortable plants to lie on...

and only one had any spots-a sudden, violent fungus that tore him apart (literally. a crowntail went to shreds. it was horrible).

So,we have him figured out.

The others? Well, one was eaten by cats.

The other three were all female and all just -died-. The temperature was fine,I checked the thermometer for mercury leaks (none),and the filter media was fine, too.

What killed these females. Go on. Try to figure it out.

Is my betta dying? He's always been fine and I've had him for about 1 year. Now he floats at the top of the tank, motionless much of the time, and his chest is totally puffed out huge (constantly, he's not flaring). He's been like this for at least 3 or 4 days. If I touch him he perks up and swims down and away but eventually returns to float at the top. Anyone ever seen this?

Anyone know any interesting facts on clownfish?

I've treated both 10gal tanks for two days and ICK is getting better. To avoid "problems" with delivery, I moved the 3 other mollies to the other tank and left the gravid molly alone in hers. Is this a good idea to switch fish to the other tank like this ? I'm very new to this delightful and interesting hobby, so I'm experimenting. I've done the same "mad scientist" trials with beekeeping for a few years and had good success, but this is foreign ground to me.

After the Sea Apple poison, did 100% water change, removed rock, vacuum sand. Added 1 damsel and 3 days later, he's floating at top gasping for air. Tried to revive in quarantine tank but did not work. He's dead. I'm at my wits end. Just started using Kordon's Amquel+. Will do weekly water changes with Kordon, wait 4 weeks and try again. Any suggestions? Nitrates at 20-40 ppm.

She is quite a large guppie, and her belly EXTEREMLEY big. My neighbor gave her to me with a bunch of other guppies ranging in size from tiny to HUGE so i really have no idea how many batches she has had. I have her in a breeder net right now, and am just wondering how long before i should take her out as I don't want her eating the babies.

I have 6 discus. First the Snake Skin hid out in the bottom right corner behind some plants, now he is all over the tank, happy happy. Second, the Pigeon Blood, same thing - Staying at the back of the tank, different location, not eating and barely moving. Now he is back to normal, but the Blue Diamond has taken up the watch at the back of the tank. Each fish "under the influence" stays basically in the same trance for 2 to 3 weeks then comes out of it. Only one fish is "out" at a time. The rest of the group are happy, will eat out of my hand, kiss me good night, do the Macarania, give me high 5's and so fourth. I don't get it, they act like they are on their last fin, then suddenly they are back to normal? Suggestions anyone? I have a 115 gal tank set up Nov 2006, other fish in tank tetras, 4 clown loaches, 4 swordtails, and a pleco.

I set up my BiOrb tropical aquarium a week ago, filled it with tap water and have had the pump running the whole time so it is the right temperature. However, what I didn't know was that you are supposed to treat and de-chlorinate the water BEFORE you add it to the aquarium (according to some of the bottles of treatment), so do I have to empty the tank and start all over again or is it still safe for the fish if I treat the water in the tank? Also, once treated, how long should I wait to add the fish?

Okay, here's the deal. Today after I got home from school I usually walk in and yell "Hey Michael!" to my beta. Today he didn't come up to the front of the tank as usual. He was just laying at the bottom. I fed him to see how he would react and he gobbled up the food fast but afterwards went back down. He does come up frequently to go the surface and get some fresh air and then slugs back to the bottom. Yesterday (and today as far as I know) he was fine and was happy go lucky, swimming around, nipping at the algae eater and so on. Now he looks so down and I'm scared for his life. I know that sounds pretty harsh but that's how I feel. Is there anything I can do to bring his spirits up? Medications? Treatments? I do have quite a bit of algae and poopy looking things at the bottom of the tank. Could that be a prob? I never turned on the filter since I got the algae eater b/c he is so small and he would get sucked up in there. Happened before w/ other tiny fish. Help!!!!
