Hi! I just got two baby orandos who are in a 10 gallon tank for the day, and I am going to get a bigger tank tomorrow (I hope I am not too mean, but I fell in love with these guys and had to get them instead of smaller fish). Would it be healthy and not mean for me to start them while they are still small in a 30 gallon tank until I get to my new place in a couple months. I could get a 55 or so gallon then, and use the 30 gallon for some smaller varieties. Also, I want to put my betta in a bigger tank because I love it when bettas swim around a lot (I have had girl bettas who go nuts in a 10 gallon tank). Are these OK with the goldfish, or should I use my 10 gallon with the betta. Is there any other kind of fish that a betta would be happy with, or is it realistic to keep one betta in a 10 gallon tank? Thanks for your help, you guys seem to know a lot. Fish are so sweet, and these Orandos, they are calico, just have the most adorable eyes I have ever seen on a fish. Beth

My Betta fish, Sushi, had an internal infection. Apparently I stopped medicating too soon because he began to swell up again. He has rapid gill movement but all tests show that his water quality is fine. I have a filter and the water is heated to 82 degrees. Could the "gasping" be because of the relapse?

I am treating him with Maracyn and Maracyn 2. He lives in a two gallon tank.

Please help!

Their perfectly healthy. I got them under the understanding that they grow with their inviormant. so far thats proven true, when i first got them they were in a small tank, then when i got my japanese algee eater i desided to get a bigger tank and they grew to the size they are now, but due to my earlyer question on how to tell the diff. between a male and a female, ppl were telling me to get rid of them. I don't see why, their my babies and they seem fine to me.

I use Stress Zyme to get tanks cycled more quickly and to help shorten "mini-cycles" after partial water changes. I honestly believe they work, as my ammonia and nitrite levels go down fast and my nitrate levels go up pretty fast too and stabilize around 10 ppm. I go generally two weeks before doing a 20% water change. Before using these kinds of things, there was a possibility of fish loss after a cleaning, but it hasn't happened now in about a year.
