Its about the size of a small tootsie roll and is pinkish in coloration. It is rigid like a cor on the cob. My tank has housed and houses currently an apple snail, a bamboo shrimp, and two feeder gold fish (now just one feeder gold fish, as one died a few days ago.) Any suggestions as to what this could be, I would appreciate it.

I have a 30-gallon fish tank, populated with "semi-agressive" fish. Someone told me that I could put snails in to take care of the algae, but I put one in and my fish killed it. I don't want to put an algae eater in, since they get so HUGE (and are peaceful fish, unlike mine?)... so what other solutions do I have?

Should I just break down and get a small algae eater?
or would my fish kill it?

I have had an aquarium for several years. Fish have come and gone, but recently I had the thought of why they don't breed. I am not sure, but I believe they are barbs or another form of Cyprinids. Why do you think they don't breed? I am not trying to make them breed, but I just want to know why they don't?

I have 2 beautifull Betta fish in separate bowls, they both have fake plastic plants and sometimes i think its too cruel for them. Since they like to swim through them Im thinking that a real plant could make them more happy. If its allowed for me to buy one for them, witch plant should I choose?

Right now, I have a few bettas, only one is in a five gal tank, the problem is that the betta that is in the 5 gal tank always swims against the y axis of the tank (Some times the x-axis) first i thought it was the betta's falut, so i changed the betta, but the other one does the same thing, i think that they are seeing their image but not clearly (I also keep a baby guppie in the same tank, but she never swims against the glass), I really want my betta to stop so i need some advice to keep him in the five gal tank AND not to swim against the glass all the time!

I noticed today that one of my fish has ich. He has been in my tank for about a year now so I don't think it would be from the fish store. Anyways, I don't want my other fish coming down with it. What's the best way to treat it and prevent it? Thanks.

Do you have to put the new Java Vern plants that are growning on the leaves into the gravel or will they grow on their own after they have fallen off of the leaves. I am asking becuse this is the first time that I ever put live plants into my tank.
