Sorry to burst your bubble, but red devils are from South America, not Africa. The two small cichlids (pronounced sick-lid)? will no doubt be killed by the red devils as soon as they start maturing a little. They are very mean fish.

There is nothing that says you cannot mix Africans and South American cichlids. But it is not a good idea unless you know quite a bit about both species.

If you have a male and female, and they are compatible, they will spawn when they are both in condition. Feed them good high protein foods for about 2-3 weeks and if they are mature, they should oblige.

Many cichlids will only spawn with a mate of their own choosing. They go through various strength tests between themselves and only they know what the parameters are.

If the red devils are first to spawn, they will immediately kill any other fish in the tank (unless it is huge [100-125 g] with lots of places to hide).

Various fish spawn in many diffierent ways. Many of the Africans are mouth brooders and only lay 30-50 eggs more or less depending on the size of the fish. Some of the SA's will lay eggs in the 1000's. I believe the red devils will lay around 6-800. I have never spawned them, so I am not positive on the exact numbers.

Cichlids need large tanks and mean cichlids need extra large tanks. They don't call them devils for nothing. Good luck.

Research, research, research....

Red Devils are substrate spawnwers - they dig a pit, lay the eggs, and care for the fry. If you have a pair that is - they are monogomous breeders. If you randomly bought two RD's then they probably aren't a pair and will instead fight when they get old enough to breed.

As for the Africans, it's hard to say without knowing what they are, but they're more likely to start killing each other then to breed.

Cichlids are generally not seasonal and will spawn regularly throughout the year, but it's important to understand the breeding habits of the species to avoid fatal aggression.

most of them are live bearers that means you should let the parents take of them they will make a nes and keep them there and other fish away from them the red devils could beat up the other two smaller fish you might want to get a tank divider jsut leave babies with parents and nature will do the rest

there are quite some cichlids that are really ordinary to reproduce notwithstanding the finest of all of them is the convict. in simple terms pair up a male and lady in a tank that has some type of cave like section and they're going to spawn interior the cave. you could tell them aside by searching for orange colored scales on the decrease body and dorsal fin of the ladies. Convicts are also very reliable moms and dads and could look after their fry.
