the diet needs to include LOTS of shelled food (snails are most appropriate) because the teeth of puffers grow continuously (like a rodent's) and without the wear from crunching up shells the teeth will keep getting longer and longer until they block up the mouth and the puffer starves to death.

They need meaty foods plus some foods with hard shells to keep their beaks trimmed. You can try some frozen foods (bloodworms, brine shrimp, mussels, squid) and regular shrimp (with shell), and live snails.

I hpe that's the only fish you have in that tank. Puffers will kill all other fish.
If you have other planted tanks crawling with snails, toss the snails in with the puffer. It will gobble them up.

you can feed them minnows and other meaty foods.
