I have a black molly and one side of her tail has gone white and limp, she looks sad and is staying near the top of the tank. All the other fish seem ok although one died a few days ago but she had just given birth so i dont think it was related. Any suggestions, im currently giving her a salt bath but any other ideas wold be helpfull.

I have a ton of live rock that has dried completely out. We haven't had the tanks up for two years. Can that rock be cured or is it completely dead?

I just recently got a male betta fish. I feed him freeze dry blood worms, what the person at the store gave me, to him. I give him about a pinch and then I go to school and check on him when I come home. Everytime I check on him it looks like the same amount of food I put in there is still there. I take it out, but I'm afraid he isn't eating.
Is something wrong? Is there any other foods that he'd like more (names and prices please!)

Another thing...do you need the plant on top to keep the betta in a vase?

Thanks in advance =D

I have tried a few but I'm not sure which ones are the easiest to read or match up to color charts and where to get the good kits? I don't tend to completely trust the pet stores since they seem to use the same test strips or bottles that I have found.

Which would you recommend? How much? And where can I get it?

Thank you!

I know salinity and ph, but are there anything elts I need to test
plus how mutch would these test kits cost? Plus if the ph is to high or to low how do you adjust it? Do you absolutally need coral, live sand or live rock for saltwater? Can I adjust the good bacteria level with aqua+, cycle, and/or waste control?

thank you soooo mutch for all your good advice, all the books Ive taken out dont tell me these things.

My sons betta lives in a 1 gallon tank with airfilter he has always been healthy. we change the water(w/treated water) regularly according to the books. Now he stays on the bottom rarely moves. His belly is swollen. We feed him Tetra Min Tropical granules about 2 or 3 a day. He wont eat the flakes. If he were a girl I'd think he's pregnant thats how big the belly is.Could he be overfed.Tumor?? We've had him about 6mths. If anyone has any Ideas We'd appreciate them. We've become attached to Mr. Fish(I didn't name him):) Thanks

I'm considering removing a 6" blood parrot cichlid and a 6" gold angelfish from my 44 gallon fish tank and taking them to a local fish store do I can stock some different fish that wouldn't be compatible with them. What's an easy and practical yet safe way to remove and then transport them? I certainly don't want to harm either one in the process, let alone the angelfish which I'm presuming is little delicate as far as his fins are concerned. Thanks!

I have 3 Rosy Reds in a 10 gallon and one of them keeps chasing the other two, making them stay in one corner of the tank. I thought they were supposed to be schooling fish, so why is that one acting like it wants its own space? As long as the other two are on one side and he/she has the other part to herself, she's not chasing them. Will he/she ever stop? :/

First, I wanted to know if my tank has cycled yet. :) It's been running for about 10 days now. I'm still new to keeping aquariums, so keep that in mind. My test results were:

Nitrates: Good, about 0-10
Nitrites: Also good, about 0-3
Hardness: 75 - Soft
Alkalinity: Not Good. 0-40
pH: Not Good. Acidic, between 6.2 - 6.8

Is my water okay for my fish, even though my Alkalinity and pH arn't doing so well right now? What can I do to fix them? Also, could those two bad readings be the cause of my fish taking breaks at the bottom of the aquarium? He doesn't do it often. I catch him doing it sometimes though. Is it normal for Goldfish to sometimes take breaks?

I do have a filter. It's been running since day 1. Whisper brand, carbon filter. 10 Gallon aquarium. My fish(Ryukin fantail) is about 3 inches from nose to tail. Also I have 3 tiny Rosy Red Minnows in the tank with him.

All tips and advice greatly appreciated. :) Help me keep Charlie alive! :D

Would it work? And copperhead I know I can't handle this tank yet, I am just asking questions... I know I must wait 17 years til I can get anything cool, lol. But really, I do appreciate the help guys...
