If I had a 125 gallon would this combo of fish work? A humu picasso triggerfish, a moorish idol, powder blue tang, dwarf zebra lion fish, plus mad amounts of inverts. This is my dream tank people. Would it work? And copperhead I know I can't handle this tank yet, I am just asking questions... I know I must wait 17 years til I can get anything cool, lol. But really, I do appreciate the help guys...

Despite asumption this is not my first source for keeping fish, nor is it my second or even third. I like to hear people's opinion from experience. I wish people could answer a question with helpful advice.

I know it's getting bad when my name's mentioned in the question!

1) Your trigger will eat your inverts and maybe harrass the fish. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=16&cat=1861&articleid=1799

2) Powder blues are nice (may have to watch with small inverts) - see, I can like some of your choices!

3) Dwarf lion nice, but again, be careful with small inverts (and when feeding & cleaning - these are venomous)

4) Moorish Idols don't do well even for experts! Skip these and go for a Heniochus (or a school!): http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=16&cat=1871&articleid=1870 - they're almost identical (except these will get larger), and far easier to care for! These both have similar body form to tangs, so you may have to choose if you want the Idol/Heniochus or the powder blue.

Here's a handy chart with some "basic thoughts" of fish compatibility - just remember, nothing's written in stone - each fish will have it's own personality. Use more for what can't go together than what can. Remember, similar colors, body shapes, or within the same family is usually a big no-no!

If you want "mad amounts of inverts" (and IMO, these are the really cool guys) just get a second 125 tank!

And if you really want something cool, get some experience with the tank you're setting up now and in a year or so, get a second the same size (or a 55 and move the animals into it) and set up your current tank with a dwarf lion.

If you are so interested in fish, why not buy some good fish books and research. I think half the fun of my tanks is researching what to put in, and how to care for them. Yahoo answers is not a good place to get proper information about fish. There are a few people on here who may answer you correctly, but the rest will most likely just be guessing and their answers will be junk. If you are truly interested in becoming an aquarist, then do the research and find things out for yourself. I find it is good to go to aquarium stores too for information (NOT PETSMART, PETCO, JACKS, ETC.) Find a local aquarium store and ask some questions. They can help you find out what you need. Most likely you will not find it here though.

I think that your trigger would be a potential threat to your moorish idol. Other than that your tank composition seems to be ok.
