Young and typical are different. A young goldfish might only weigh an ounce or two. And then, there is the fancy goldfish, that is smaller and the slim-bodied goldfish that can grow quite large. A typical fancy goldfish, 3-5 years old, may weigh, maybe 6-8 ounces and a slim-bodied of the same age may weigh, maybe 8-12 ounces. These are guesses just based on how they feel when I hold them in my hands.

Young goldfish usually weigh 2-8 pounds depending on their size. There are different varieties of young goldfish, but 2-8 pounds is one of the most reasonable. If your young goldfish is really big, it is most possible for it to weigh a little more pounds than 2-8 pounds. Usually, small goldfish weigh very little.
