Do you have to put the new Java Vern plants that are growning on the leaves into the gravel or will they grow on their own after they have fallen off of the leaves. I am asking becuse this is the first time that I ever put live plants into my tank.

They should grow on their own. It's how they work in the wild.

java ferns do not grow in the gravel, they need to be tied to bogwood or rocks. i had one lump of java fern, now from it's plantlets and cuttings i have bunches in every tank!

if you have some bogwood, tuck it into a crevice, it'll soon root and grow!

It should be fine. Just think about how it would happen in nature. there isn't anybody that goes around putting them in the sand. just watch it and if it needs help, being that this isn't nature in your living room, then help it out.

You can do it either way. You can do it yourself if you want, or if you leave it and let it go it will be just fine.
