Frankly, no. Once grown they really need about 20 gallons each.

Once they mature, they will be 3-4" and need 10-15 gallons each. For now, with good filtration, you may be OK, in the long run, you probably will be better with a 55 gallon.
With goldfish, don't get the minimum sized filter, you are better with the maximum. For example, the Hagen AquaClear 50 is for tanks 20-50 gallons. This would be perfect for a 20 gallon. AquaClear 30 is for tanks 10-30 gallons, not ideal, but usable. Aquaclear 20 is for tanks 5-20 gallons. This would be minimally effective in a tank this size with petite fish like neon tetras. For large bodied fish such as goldfish, it just doesn't have the capacity to remove the waste properly. The AquaClear 50 is about $20. The 30 is about $2 less and the 20 is about $4 less, so the price difference isn't much.

Well, I'm, at least, glad to hear that they are in a 20 gallon tank rather than a 2 gallon or even a bowl, which is more often what we hear. You have, at least, given them a good start. If they're still very tiny, 1 inch or so, you're fine, but you do need to get them a larger tank. Fancy goldfish can reach lengths of 6-8 inches full grown, and the record is a 15 inch red oranda named Bruce! See link just for fun! Instead of continuously buying new tanks as they grow, it's a lot cheaper in the long run, to just buy what they need from the beginning. So, with that in mind, a 75 gallon tank would probably be a good choice with a filter that pumps 10x the water per hour as tank size, i.e., 75 gallon tank: 750 gph filter. I know it seems extreme, but if you take good care of them and keep them healthy and happy, you could have 3 Bruces in your tank, and then it all makes sense! Thank you for taking the time to be concerned for your goldies and wanting to give them the best! Good luck!

you are able to no longer keep ANY goldfish in a three gallon tank. for 3 goldfish, you opt for a 40+ gallon tank. it fairly works like this for fancies (fantails, etc.): 20 gallons for the 1st fish and 10 gallons for each extra. additionally they choose double filtration, working example: a 20 gallon tank needs a 40 gallon clear out. I advise you come the fish OR get a 20 gallon tank. in case you opt for 3 fish get a 40+ gallon tank. maximum people who don't be responsive to something approximately fish think of of goldfish as short-lived creatures which could stay in small areas. they are incorrect. Goldfish can improve over a foot long and could stay for over 2 many years with the suited care.

You can keep 1 fancy goldfish in a 20 gallon, but make sure you are don't miss a water change. If you want 3 fancy goldfish you will need about 35-40 gallons. Goldfish grow quite large and produce alot of waste, so they require large tanks.
