Your fry can stay a while in the 20g. Prolly up to 2"+. I would not suggest putting them back with the Breeders till they hit 3-3.5". My growouts are 10g then 40g or 55g. But I bet I have 100 fry in one of my 10g now and have a 40g with 7 fronts(1.5") and 25 Synodontis(1-2.5"). Dont worry about it now. Just keep up on the water changes. Sounds like your doing sumptin right if you've got wild Kigs breeding with other assorted fish in their tank. I have grown out Kapampas and Kavallas with peacocks and haps, but have only lost the malawis(no fronts). Just dont keep them with mixed too long, if thats the way you go(unless tank is fairly good sized).

Frontos are generally best kept in species tanks, but there are some fish they can get along with - you would need to be more specific about what your 'assorteds' are - if they are mbuna then I'd say it's not a good idea at all. Frontosa are pretty docile cichlids, they would get too stressed in that kind of environment.

To keep your Frontosa group long term you're looking at a tank of 150 gallons or more.
