i bought a yellow lab cichlid (1 inch) 3 weeks ago from Petco and i have read that they are pretty docile so i went back the next day to look at other cichlids. i found the cutist brightest colored kenyi cichlid (1 inch) and the manager said they would be fine so i got him and purposily the same size. they have been in a 55 with
1 male betta
2 female bettas
2 zebra fish
2 male guppies
2 pinkish zebra fish
1 male balloon molly
2 albino corys
and 2 fiddler crabs
now the funny thing is that the other fish beat up the yellow lab and doesn't bother them but he is mean the the kenyi and the kenyi wont nip the guppies but followes them around. WHY DO I ALWAYS GET THE MESSED UP FISH?? WHY DO THEY ACT LIKE THIS? ARE THEY A BAD MIX?????

This fish can't fly like a bird , but it leaps into the air , upto 6m [20ft] then glides for about 400m [1,300ft] before splashing back .

I have two fantail goldfish that were floating ontop of the tank most of the time & seemed to lose interest in their food. I was advised this could be a lack of oxygen, so got an airstone to blow bubbles into the tank - & now they just sit on the bottom instead! They do not seem to have any obvious signs of disease, so can anyone give me any ideas on how to sort them out & get them swimming again?! Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I don't like to think of my fish being unhappy or unwell.

Been keeping fish for 40 years and never come acroos this. Small cream coloured little things look like very small sesame seeds sprinkled everywhere.(pinhead size) They apear on wood rocks, even snails occasionally. Not any fish eggs that i have ever heard of nor snails. Never seen one hatch but after a few weeks they seem to be empty. Asked everywhere no one knows. ??????

This question folows on to my original question about my siamese fighter fish dying. First of all thanks for all the replys. But now i am confused, is everyone saying that it is beneficial to keep a fighter in a smaller tank? The fighter that diedseemed to love the space of a huge tank and swim around every part of it. Am i right in thinking that in nature they don't have a choice as to how they live? I have got a new fighter, so would it be better for him if i took him out of the big tank and put him in the smaller tank? Is the reason that they feel safer in a smaller tank?

My siamese fighter whom i've had for three months and was previously fit and healthy died three days ago. About two weeks before his death he did seem a bit zonked out on occassions and would sometimes just swim into the plants and crash out for a bout five minutes, but aparet from this he was fine. My boyfriend said it could of been that he was eating to much, but we noticed that he had what looked like a white moustache, around his mouth (the night before he died) then the next day his whole head seemed really pale and he slowly passed away. We do water tests regulary and the water is fine, the tank is huge and not overcrowded, with loads of natural plants, it's not exposed to any noise and the all the fish are happy, so this is a puzzle. Does anyone know what could of caused this unfortunate death?

Is there a way of telling if a black molly is pregnant?

It is not really like other livebearers that have a gravid spot.

I have a few black mollies that are fat, but i am not sure if they are actually pregnant.
