Wait at least a month before introducing him to the others. If he is from walmart, he probably has Ich or something which may manifest itself within the next few weeks. You can save yourself a load of trouble by not putting him in with the others yet.

If there's no fuzz, no redness and no fraying, then he probably just has a nipping injury. You can add a little salt to the water, but the best thing for him right now is proper care. Be sure that he has more than enough room (so, a 10gallon tank if he is still small, or 20 gallons if he is big - orandas need 20gallons each). Clean the water every week (20-30%) - twice a week if you can.
Feed a variety of good quality food, and he'll be raring to go in no time :)

Also, try to resist the urge to rescue fish from Walmart. I know its tough seeing them in crappy little tanks, but if you buy a fish, Walmart doesn't know that you did so to rescue it. They just know that they made money from the fish. Frankly, Walmart has no business selling live fish. The best thing you can do to put an end to that is by just walking straight past the fish section.

When I save fish from walmart I am always careful I would say a good 2 week seperation, did you add salt to the tank? I have found that gets rid of alot of things I used about 2 Tablespoons per 20 gallons.
