Fish - December 2006

Have had African cichlids for 10+ years and want to swich back to a South American "community" (55 gallon) tank. I'm assuming I have to switch gravel and fluval contents plus a significant (if not all) of my water. Any words of wisdom?

I want diversity in my tank, and I doubt there exist what I want. I have newts and will get more ghost shrimp. Will a crab hurt my newts. I heard there is a crab that eats poop, suggestions?

There are also rainbows, guppies, neons, plecos, danios, plants and an infinite amout of plant snails.

My sea anenomie will not set foot in the tank. I changed his locations a couple of times. His mouth is getting bigger. I've isolated the clown fish. What else can I do to make him happy and settle down and set his foot?

i am getting a new tank for xmas :)

it measures 50 x 50 x 34 cm (l x h x w)

i think it is 22 gal but it is quite tall

it has all lights and filter heater and air pump and everything

i want to buy some angel fish, is this tank big enough and how many angel fish do u think i could keep

if this tank is not big enough :( what fish do u recomend)

they are in a 90 gal. tank with parrot fish + irridecent sharks no one seems to be bothering them dad is very protective . if i move do i move mom + dad with them ?

I changed the water in my beta's tank, and apparently didn't do too good of a job. I think it's in shock now. Any advice so that it doesn't die? help!!

like skim the bottom for food
I dont need plecos cause my guppies do this any food they didnt eat they will find sometime in the day then the filter gets the rest.
Would my guppy eat it if I put those sinking algae tablets?

My guppies, mollys, cave fish & other peaceful fish have been chewed on, and still alive at times, then they die... I am wondering who might have done this, I have

1 male guppy
4 fry black molly
2 female black molly
1 male black molly
1 cave fish
2 corydora catfish
1 plecostomus
2 ghost shrimp
1 crawfish

My oscors line up in a row and swim upside down behing this rock. like they are scratching there backs. they do it all the time. whats up with that? are they itchy or just nuts? should i put some prozac in the tank

Out of curiosity, can u make an ordinary cheap goldfish from the pet shop grow big? Or are the limited by genetics to be small? If they can grow big how do you do it?

in that case why do they sell smaller tanks in shops? i find it crazy to buy a 100 gallons tanks for 3-4 fishes!!!! even if they will gorw bigger.

but does it hurt them? I understand from fishermen type people that fish cant feel pain. If its true it hurts l will stop, otherwise its quite funny.

My betas' tank gets cloudy after only one or two days of cleaning. I am putting the recommended amt of drops to the water. I only have glass rocks at the bottom and one plastice shoe for swimming in. I hate it. I love my beta but don't want to spend that much time on it. Help! Any suggesstions?

how big does an angelfish get? I want to get a angelfish but i dont have much room to have a big tank... my friend had angel that only grew about 2-3 inches but some say theirs is a foot long...
also it would be helpful if anyone told me about the best environment for angel tank... please note that i can only have a smallish tank..
if angelfish is just not possible for a small tank, what other fish would be good?? i like cichlids but tropical might be ok..
