i have an 18month old choc lab and just got a 2year old golden lab. The golden lab is a girl and has been done, however the choc is male and hasnt. He seems to think she is there to mate with and wont leave her back end alone. Is there anything we can do to stop this, we dont relly want to get him done as he has bad hits so dont want him to put weight on.

I know this might be a stupid question but I just want to ask before I Take my dog with me to my moms. She has a pool and I had an older big dog it was a lab. WEll it used to go swimming with us when he was alive. and it never hurt him or anything . but I now own a small shi pom...half shitzu and half pomeranian. And I wanted to make sure that the chemicals wont hurt her or her skin since she is smaller. I just want to know if I need to leave her in the house while we swim.

I've tried adding vitamins in the form of syrups which is suppose to whelps her appetite but she's not taking it either.

She is having a cough when we brought her home and the vet says it's not serious yet. The cough doesn't seems to go away. What should I do?

ok i have a very LOVABLE pitbull, hes is GREAT! he protects me,sleeps with me,says hello to everyone that walks into the door, and does tricks!! but everybody thinks "omg, its a pitbull, its going to bite me" but thats not true, its the way you breed a pitbull, you can breed it correctly or incorrectly. make it a good house dog or make it fight. the ones that are out bitting people are the ones badly breed!so the question is how do i make other people understand?

Not genetic apparently suffered an injury when he was quite young. He is now 10 years old and deterioration is apparent on films. He began limping so I took him to the vet. Was wondering if anyone here has had this done for their dog. What was recovery like and any tips would be appreciated.

I have a purebred border collie. He is a year old and his testicles have still not dropped. We bought him with the intentions to breed him with our female when he was old enough, but he still has no testicles that are visable. Some one told me they had a dog and he didnt drop until he was 15 months old. Jack just turned a year in march. Should i be worried about a disease, or medical condition! Any imput would be great. We use to breed dobermans but decided to switch after our ***** got hit by a car. Never had this problem before. Thank you all who reply

My lab has a red pimple on the bottom of her paw between her toes. It might be a misquito bite or other kind of insect bite. It's bothering her but I don't know what to put on it. Any suggestions?

I have a house trained female golden retriever/pit mix. She's had pee accidents in the house before but it was few and far between. However, lately - I've had to fill her waterbowl 2 - 3 times per day (I used to only have to fill it once)... She has been peeing in the house recently and after I've taken her out just an hour before - and it's very unlike her. What are some possible reasons for this change?

My German Shepard is 1 year and 2 months. Today I took her on a walk. She did well, walked beside me. The problem is when a dog who was in a fenced in yard started barking, I couldn't get her attention. I told her to sit but she ignored me and just stood in a stand/ready position facing this dog. I finally had to scruff her around the sides of her face look at her and she finally sat. The rest of the way home she was fine and walked with her tail in the submissive mood. When we got home she roamed to house with her tail up but when approached me she put it in the submissive mood. It's been a couple of months since I have scruffed her and put her on her back. Do you think I need to do this again? If so how often should I be doing it?

Our dog has been diagnosed as diabetic. We have access to relatively inexpensive sources of Humolog insulin and would like to use it in place of the Vetsulin (Insulin for Animals) that our Veterinarian has prescribed. Can the substatution be made and will the effects and dosages be the same?

My chow that is 10 years old recently had precancerous tumors removed at the humane society hospital. Shortly afterwards his hair started falling out and rings in his skin developed. The vets say he didn't get it there (I question this) and that he probably had the problem for years before the actual eruptions occoured. Since then we have spent a fortune on different medicines, shampoos, etc. We have even began using Lamisil AT. He also has chronic ear infections and eye infections. It is bad enough that he has all these problems but now with the ringworm I am afraid that my other two dogs and two cats may also contract the disease. Years ago I treated my cat with pharmaldihide (a treatment I got from a turn of the century medical book) and just like the book said it treated the ringworm with the first application. However the area on my dog is too great to treat this way. Years ago my dad treated a dog with mange with used motor oil and that worked then but isn't practical now.

My bichon puppy is 2.7 lbs at 16wks, while her sister is 4.6 lbs. She is lethargic, although she does have bouts of playfulness. No vomiting, fecal is normal, eats well. She just bega.n walking as though she is drugged, leaning to her left side. (she doesn't always do this) Vet not available till tomorrow.
She is so fragile at her weight that I am concerned about her. Her sister is very rough with her while playing.
Anyone with answers or suggestions would be appreciated.
