Dogs are born knowing how to swim. Make sure she can get out when shes tired or stay with her if she needs help getting out. Let her decide if she likes it after you have introduced her to it. After swimming hose her of to remove the majority of chemicals and remember to dry her ears. My mother brings her little dogs to our pool and one of them loves the pool and the other loves running around it while we are in. Never leave them out by pool alone unless there are steps they can get out by them-self. Our neighbors pug was a good swimmer, loved the water but needed help exiting. A few years ago they left him outside and when they returned home he was drowned, probably got tired and couldn't get out or touch...you can only dog paddle for so long.
Floaties on dog are a bad idea

A little should be okay. Chemicals can be drying to her fur though. I'm not so sure that either of these breeds are noted for swimming though, certainly not like a Lab. I'd be really careful if she hasn't swam before. Make sure she knows where the steps are. Of course, never a good idea to leave a dog unattended near a pool.

The chemicals should be fine...The only thing you should be worried about is if the pool has a ladder he may not be able to climb out so she will need watched at all times...It would also be a good idea to teach him where to enter and exit the pool in case she accidently fell in or jumped...Depending on the size of the dog some can only swim up to 5-10 Minutes or less before they get tired so she may need held alot of the time.

My dogs can swim but my pug has a hard time-she is quite heavy and often sinks! I'm also not too keen on letting them swim in a pool full of chlorine so i usually let them swim at the beach. if you are looking for a flotation device, check out ezydog life vests. They have excellent vests that really keep the dogs floating safely. Even though my dogs wear the vest i still get in the water with them at all times. You never know what might happen so better safe than sorry.

it should be fine realy.. a friends puppy went swimming ( i was there) and it was fine but you just gotta watch them as they tire easily and can get distressed if they cant get out but otherwise it should be fine as far as the chemicals and all that go nad also make sure if you live in a cold place (not that you would be swiming if it was cold) that when it gets out you have a towel because small dogs dont have as much fat or like protection from the cold and they can freeze.. or maybe thats just puppies...? oh well have fun with your dog!

Its fine for dogs to get in the pool. just make sure she can get a bath afterwards and dont just let the chemicals dry off her back. also, make sure she's comfortable in the water and knows how to get out. dogs are natural swimmers, but they sometimes fall into the pool and dont know how to get out and drown from exhaustion.

swimming pools (or any quite calm physique of water) may be deadly for canine. they only have not got the intensity concept had to be attentive to that they floor they see isn't stable. you may desire to teach your canine what the pool is, and notice that they have a ramp to get out (or properly sized steps). in no way. Ever. bypass away your canine and your pool unattended. If a canine gets irritating/scared in a physique of water their organic tendencies will tell them to freeze, to no longer flow. which will, of direction, enable them to sink to the backside and doubtless drown. stable luck. cj

If you hold the dog or support it the first couple of times yes. After that they can go in without support but watch them.

I would not advise it. Small dogs get tired easily. Plus you have to make sure you dry his ears good, could prone it to ear infections. Good luck...
