Having a dog neutered does not make him gain weight. Lack of exercise and over feeding do. There are many health benefits to having him neutered. You can monitor his weight. Just like with people exercise is the key. Please get him neutered, it's a good thing onmany levels...

Both dogs need to be fixed. I am really not trying to be rude but if you do not know anything about the mating process (shown through your question) then you 100% do not need to be a breeder. Also keep in mind that if your female has even one litter of puppies it significantly increases her risk of developing certain types of cancers. Same for males, the longer he goes without being neutered the more likely he will be at risk for prostate cancer, etc. Neutered pets are happy pets and the only breedings that should take place are those to better the breed standard and to produce quality puppies for dog shows or specific purposes. Is your dog a miniature doberman or a miniature pinscher? There is no such thing as a mini dobi... that is like saying you have a mini rottweiler, the only mini's are the runts which should not be bred for obvious reasons. If you do not know your dogs breed, you should not breed obviously. Your female (if she is a mini pinscher) will die if dhe becomes pregnant by a dog the size of Domino....Min Pins generally ovulate 2-4 eggs meaning they have 2-4 pups on average. There is no way her tiny body can hold even 1 lab-sized pups. She will die either by strain on her body or through internal poisoning when a pup dies inside of her. The pups will likely all die becuase she will not be able to carry them full term. If she does by miracle give birth to even a single live pup she will refuse to feed it if it is large (it will cause her pain). Please really think about this decision. If you need more convincing then go to a local animal shelter and see all the pups up for adoption... there is no shortage of homeless dogs and unless you are breeding for AKC show quality, temperament soundness, and for agility there is no reason to breed more. If money is the issue with getting them fixed look for a local animal clinic that does free service or see if SNAP certificates are accepted in your area... they make it much less expensive. Currently you must keep them seperate. If your girl goes into heat they can and will successfully mate and it will mean extremely costly vet bills for you or gucci will end up dead. :( This makes me so sad.

Have him neutered. It is a fallacy that dogs gain weight because they are neutered. They will be more prone to weight gain, but that is because they are not burning as much energy. Like people - too much food, you gain weight. So have him neutered and you can recover the cost of the operation by cutting back on his food. If he has bad hips, all the more reason for not allowing him to breed (which he will do if any female dog is around him who is in season).
If you don't plan to breed a dog it should be neutered. end of story.

Get him neutered or separate them - that's all you can do. He is a martyr to his hormones and he just won't stop until he is castrated. Pity your poor female if nothing else! And it's a myth that castrated dogs put on weight - labs are prone to it but if you watch his diet and give him lots of exercise, there's no reason in the world why he would.

It is a natural thing for a male dog to do this. YOur lab is still immature and is trying it on.
The best thing is to get him done, i had my choc lab done and he hasn't put on any weight.
It is best to have them done as the behaivour can get worse especially if the famale dog doesn't tell him off.

Your dogs will not gain weight as long as you give them the correct amount of food & plenty of exercise.

Did you get the bit©h done after she had the 1st season? or did you get before? some times the dog associates the season to that dog & even though you have got it fixed it still thinks of that dog as its playpal so to speak.
There are some sprays you can get in the local pet store that you spray on the backend to mask any smell she is submitting

It's perfectly natural as im sure you know, but obviously it cant continue. You need to be very firm and consistent with your male dog and every time you catch him trying to mount your bi tch you need to tell him no loudly and firmly and tell him it's naughty.Seperate your male from your bi tch for 5-10mins in another room etc, if you do this every time, [which may be a few times a day] your dog will come to realise that every time he attempts to mount your bi tch it results in him being ignored and shut away.Supervise them at all times and watch for any sign of mounting behaviour.

Males don't normally gain weight after being fixed it's the females that do.
Your female you said is spayed? Then somewhere in your neighborhood there's a dog in heat and if you don't get your male dog fixed every time a female dog goes into heat you will have to face this problem. So really it is best to have him fixed and be done with it.

Unless he's penetrating her it's more likely that this is the normal dominance issue. Dogs will hump anything to show they're boss. You can train him out of it like any other unwanted behavior.
