I am trying figure out what Gavin's breed is.(Pictures below). He's about 30lbs at most, not very tall. I can't tell if he's a Shiba inu or a Jindo, maybe even a smooth coated Chow?

Long story... I have 2 large dogs. Both about 100 lbs each. One has to have his food left out all day because he has Addison's disease and he must be allowed to eat whenever he likes so he does not get stressed. His specialized food is also very expensive, about $38 per bag. I am watching the other dog for a friend for a few months. His regular food is a much cheaper retail brand. The visiting dog keeps sneaking and eating my dog's expensive food. He used to just sneak & eat it at night when everyone was asleep. We have since put the expensive food up at night, but now he sneaks around and gets it in the daytime, when my dog is not near his food. I have tried verbally scolding the visiting dog when I caught him doing this and he ran into another room and hid and threw up because I guess I upset him, but later he went and got the food again. I felt really bad and I don't know what else to do.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can stop this? I'm stumped!

Since I'm not a breeder, I know that neutering dogs and spaying b*tches are just part of my responsibility as a dog owner (I also am against tail docking and ear cropping). But will neutering/ spaying affect their ability (Will they be less aggressive or less obedient?) to protect me and my home? And is there really no difference in temperament between neutered guard dogs and spayed guard b*tches as some articles have claimed? Crime rates are high in my city, I need a dog who is obedient, will give warning growls and is intelligent.

So my golden retriever is 8 years old, and she is very very sweet and loves everybody but can be a territorial about food. She was hovering over my 5 month old cats while they ate, and i was afraid she would snap at them or try to eat their food, so i gently pushed her back and she straight out lashed out at me. She made this huge growling fuss, snapping and it was pretty scary. I really havent seen her do anything like it before. I got PISSED at her and yelled at her and stood over her, shoving her outside. This got her even more mad at me and she refused to move. Eventually i got her outside.
My idea is that its a mixture of food territorialness and dominance. I am the youngest in the family, so she has always felt kind of dominant over me (not listening to me, growling when i push her, etc)
let me repeat she isnt a problem dog. she is very sweet 99% of the time.
well anyway what should i do to gain dominance? i tried the staring in her eye thing and she always ........

I have a male lab that just got neutered a week and a half ago. He still has his stitches on. I noticed that there looks like there is still 1 testicle that hasn't been removed. I called the vet and they said it was just swollen and that both testicles have been removed. I felt the testicle and there was still something in it. Is it normal to still feel a sack or testicle after he's been neutered or is there supposed to be nothing at all?

I just rescued an adorable labbe puppy (8 wks), and when i got him I put a collar on him right away (nothing fancy). He just seemed like he was a lazy pup who iched his neck alot and whined, which is normal. Then I gave him a bath and when i took the collar off he became a completly different pup! He loves to run, play, go outside, run with me and just be crazy, but the second I put it back on he sits, either in my lap or by himself, and won't play, he won't even respond to me. I've tried treats (including cheese and P.B.), toys, talking lovingly and even putting on a light ribbon around his neck to see if he didn't like the collar itself. Nothing works! Its like he has a new personality when it comes to having a collar on...a scared and depressed one. I love him so much and I hate to see him like that. Please Help!

I found her in December almost starved to death with scratches everywhere so she was obviously in a dog fight and not well taken care of. I don't know if she's having nightmares or what but I don't want to wake her up if she is just whimpering about something else other than nightmares.

What should I take caution in when I'm finding a good breeder? What makes a bad breeder? What should I "look out" for? My family has never purchased an animal from a breeder before, so we need to know what to expect!

I have a male yorkie at about 2 months old. About the second week after i got him he began to bite my hands and feet, i thought it was normal because he was probably teething and just needed something to bite on but now he is biting very hard. and it is beginning to hurt. I have red bite marks all around my hands.

Is this a serious biting problem?
Or if he is teething , how long will this last?
