I am trying figure out what Gavin's breed is.(Pictures below). He's about 30lbs at most, not very tall. I can't tell if he's a Shiba inu or a Jindo, maybe even a smooth coated Chow?

He's a stray. I have to find the most accurate breed in order to place him in a rescue.

He looks to me like a Kisshu. I have one and they are very similar. In fact, the moor I look at him, the more I think for sure he is...
Take a look at this page then decide for yourself:

Due the the thickness of the ears and shortness of legs, it crosses out Jindo, as they often have thin ears and long legs. He's too short-haired for a smooth coated Chow Chow. Both of these breeds weigh more than 30lbs, also (The Jindo, at the LOWEST weight, might make the 30lbs range).

He mostly resembles a Shiba Inu (or mix thereof). His weight would be in the range for that breed, also.

I would guess he is a Chow mix - possibly with Thai Ridgeback (many TRDs are born without a ridge) He could also have several other breeds - e.g., a mom who is a Chow/Jindo mix and a dad who is a mixture of Shiba, Thai and Lab (pinkish nose :)) TRDs range from 30 to 70 pounds. White in the Jindo,TRD and Shiba is rarely seen in pure breds - he looks awfully cute!

oh he's very pretty! ya know i'm not sure...looks a bit skinny though. i'm gonna say he's a cross...but maybe shiba inu with the chow....or jindo with the shiba lol or maybe all 3....what breeds are more likely found in ur area....seems the best way to go. either way he's lovely. is he for adoption?

It looks stockier and shorter than a Jindo, and Chows are typically a LOT thicker than this dog, even short haired. They still have that round face and they have the excess skin on their shoulders. My first reaction was a Shiba. He's really cute. Just a side note.

Gavin does look like a shiba inu crossed with maybe huskie or malamute....

shiba's do actually come in the white colour, but are not allowed in the show ring because they have no "urajiro" traditional markings

very beautiful dog

Looks like a white shiba inu. This is not a standard color. The coat and ears look right. This time of year my shibas coat is less fluffy too.
Could be mixed with anything but under 20 in and under 40 lbs probably Shiba

I did not say white was not possible it it I simply said it was not a standard color, as in not accepted as a breed standard.

tough call, all these breeds look a lot alike, but i'd go for jindo, shiba inus seem to have longer hair, makes them look chubbier... and chows have shorter noses... really pretty dog... maybe the safest thing to say is jindo...

He looks like a Jindo to me. he has a rounded head and a curled up tail like that of the breed. But he most likely has a mix of Shiba Inu in his pedigree.

To me he looks like a Shiba Inu, an Akita mix, or an American Eskimo mix. But the breed doesn't matter that much as long as he is a nice dog.

Dog's I thought of when I saw him:
