Do dogs have baby teeth that they lose like ours? It doesn't look like it broke off or anything. He is show quality and I'd love to show him but if it doesn't come in, isn't that a disqualification? Any info. appreciated! He has a vet appt. soon so maybe they'll know. Thanks.

when she is standing, you can actually see these lumps. She is not pregnant,or spayed.I don't believe this is a sign of mastitis, due to how the soft fleshy lumps feel. They also don't appear to be inflamed or causing my bassett any discomfort. What are these please? She is 14 months old and not spayed

Right now I live in Darmstadt, Germany and am moving to Mannheim,Germany whenever they have an opening in housing. As soon as we are settled I would really enjoy getting a pet for my family. The only problem is I don't know of any places at all or even close by that have any puppy kindergarten/obedience classes and I would very much like to have my future puppy go to classes and be sure that it gets as much socialization as possible. There are many ways to get a puppy through breeders that may or may not be selling a healthy pet but there are no ways (that I know of to make sure that the pet can be properly trained and socialized or enough information to make sure that after the pet becomes a part of the family that it will be made sure that it will be able to go with whomever when they go to their next duty station.
So if anyone knows of an English speaking puppy school around Mannheim, Germany please let me know. Thank you in advance.

we brought a nine week old westie puppy who we've called ollie about a week ago and the lady who was not a breeder said that he had a pedigree but she hadn't bothered to register him as she wanted the pups to go as pets only does that sound right to you? i only ask as there has been a problem about his vacination cert as well.we have had him checked by vet and he's healthy we only wanted him as a family pet and are not bothered about a pedigree but i think there's something dodgy about her.she only had one male pup left but is now advertising again with more westies.
what do you think?
thanks abbey.

I have two wonderful cats (my kids) who I have had for 3 and 2.5 years. They are strictly indoor cats. I would like to adopt a puppy-- specifically a German Shepherd. It would be an indoor/outdoor dog. I am concerned that the dog would harm my cats (whether in play or deliberately). To add to my worry, the cats are both declawed. Has anyone had large dogs and cats at the same time with success?

I'm probably going to end up taking this three day old pup to the vet because he won't eat and I've tried everything I could think of. This pup happens to be the pick of the litter from the stud owner. It's kind of a complicated situation but I'll explain:
I took my girl out to be breed when she was ready. The boy they had was a perfect male and the two of them hit it off EXTREMELY well! She slept in her kennel and he'd sleep on the outside of it just to be next to her. He was really protective of her and they sort of "fell in love" so to speak. I payed the stud fee up front and took her home. The day I took her home the stud boy went crazy looking for her, tearing up his pen and digging to get out. He had never done this before but he finally got out and ran up the road after us and got hit by a car and died. Out of pity, I told the stud owner that she could have her pick of the litter for free.
Since this is her dog now, does she pay vet bills that this pup is going to have?

How much should a 10 week old puppy sleep? She sleeps through the night for about 6 or 7 hours, but also a long time during the day. Should I keep her in her cage and let her sleep until she barks? Should I keep her out with us and keep her bed available? Should I try to keep her up during the day so she'll sleep longer at night?

We've got a 12 wk old pup (Australian Kelpie X Ridgeback) that is too young for dog training (16wks) but we've been training her at home. We have just over an acre block, with farm type fencing so this pup needs to be trained well. I agree with Ed Frawley's training method (see link) of using prong collars, I think if used correctly they inflict much less damage than remote collars or chokers.. yet my husband thinks it's unnecessary and cruel. This dog is growing large quickly and with three small kids I really want to train her effectively.. what do you think?
(Pls no smart alec comments about sterilising our pup.. she will be done, as all our animals are, when she's old enough.)

I'm getting an Afghan Hound puppy in 10 weeks and I'm already getting ready to look into getting another rare breed puppy to show.

I am thinking about getting a Borzoi or Saluki and as different as they are, really like the Dalmatian, Clumber Spaniel and the Old English Sheepdog. Has anybody got any experience with those breeds? If not/if so, what is your personal favorite breed of dog? I would like a slightly rare and exotic breed but nothing that's going to take me more than 5 years to find a show quality pup. I don't want anything popular like a Labrador or German Shepherd and I want a large dog, not a small dog. I might look into medium sized dogs, if I like them.

I am up for any challenge that owning this new dog will throw at me - I mean, I'm getting an Afghan!

Cost, exercise, grooming, training, size does not worry me at all.

My female boston terrier is leaking a fowl icky brownish liquid out of her butt hole.....rectum, anal area........got that people...she is spayed and has been for the longest time.

I want to know why she leaks mainly when she is showing my husband and me affection? She likes to lick our fingers, and arms.

I guess she is getting the salt off.

I would appreciate it very much if the answers were not rude or nasty. And that they were actually helpful.

Hey.
My puppy is only 8-9months old, and im wondering if puppies are allowed to eat Mandirins because a few minutes ago my puppy was sitting in the dining room and there was a Mandarin on the floor and he sniffed, chewed and rolled it, then when i passed he ran in circles around the table AND the mandirin so i wonder if they have any allergies, or things that can cause illnesses from the Mandirin. Thank you!
