Okay, well I am a 14-year-old girl who has just been granted permission to get my own dog! [woot] I really want a tiny dog that I can 'snuggle' with, that is lively but is also a lap dog who loves to give out their love! I don't want it to be big on barking all the time because I understand that tinier dogs tend to bark, and I also don't want it to have loads of fur that needs to be cut at a groomer constantly. What kind do you guys think I should get? Price really isn't an issue because my parents are willing to buy it for me. Thanks!

I have a begal that is due to have puppies any day now. I have heard that the vet can tell by taking their temperature whether or not she is about to give birth. Is this true? If so, does the temp go up or down and if so how many degrees. What is the normal temp for a dog?

My dog (male pitbull) has started heaving lately. He will start heaving and then puke some yellow crap out. I've elimidated the possibility that he's getting into something. Any idea's?

I don't like cute names like "Cuddly Critters". I really like the name "Watch Spot Pet Sitting" however people with cat's may not feel like I specialize in cats b/c Spot is usually a dogs name. I could write under it "Love Cats Too!". What do you think. I also like Pavlov's Dogs Pet Sitting. Anyone who has taken psychology know about Pavlov's dogs. But again it leave cats out of the picture. I also need a slogan. Any suggestions for names or slogans? I need a name that really sticks out and catches people's attention. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Also if you are a pet sitter and have any advice for me I'm all ears. Thanks.

My neighbors have a male (not neutered) almost 2 yr smooth mini doxie. I take care of him on occasion. He is very thin. All his ribs and vertebrae (sp) show. He eats kibble, doesn't like treats unless it is chicken or cheese which I don't like to give him. The owners say he is fine and doesn't eat much...but the amount of kibble he is eating should make him a more "normal" weight. Can anyone give me some insight.

I have a Shiba Inu Purebred & a Shiba Inu/Poodle Mix...there both wonderful dogs. I would not choose any other breed. The purebred likes to escape the yard, but comes back on his own..and the mix is so loving and affectionate.

What does everyone else think of this breed?

My 13 year old brother accidently washed my yorkie/silky pup with a little bit of herbal essences... i walked in on him and he was using my travel sized container that i had put shampoo in (it was a clear bottle w/ no markings on it) he thought it was the dog's shampoo and he said he didnt wash the head yet, just the body. Is this going to harm my dog? She actually smells really good... is there a danger giving human shampoo to dogs?

Thanks for all of the answers, some were helpful while others were...well..not. Anyway, here's what it turned out to be: the pup got a hold of a cooked steak bone that was too thin. The bone got lodged in his stomach and did not allow anything to pass or for him to keep anything down. Lucca (the pup) has since passed the bone and is healthy as ever. For those who were so quick to call me an irresponsible pet owner for not rushing him to the hospital, well, in this case you were wrong, but i do agree with you that actions should be taken given the correct circumstances, but the only reason i posted this question was to learn more about the situation. Before posting i did in fact speak to a nurse in the vets office but as any logical person would do, i did some of my own research. I suggest others do the same too, you can save your money, and the vet's time.

My husband and I recently adopted a dog that is a little over a year old. He is a pure bred Jack Russell Terrier and is fixed and up to date on his shots. he is house trained and everything. The problem is that now that we are training him not to jump on the furniture or to sit or lay down, when we get strick with him he always pees. We want to know how to stop him from doing this as well as be able to train him properly.

I have a blind mini dachshund that has a slight amount of sight (about 10% or less) in one eye. He normally learns quickly when a room is changed around and he can get around obstacles, but I recently put my bed up on a bed frame, so it is about a foot higher than it was before. He is having a lot of trouble getting down from it, but he has been able to jump up on it with only minor trouble. I bought some puppy stairs for small dogs to get up, but he can't seem to figure out where the stairs are even though I keep them in the same place and I'm constantly showing him where they are. I wondered if anyone knew any good techniques to either get him to learn the stairs or how I could get him to jump down on his own without feeling as much fear as he has now when he tries to jump down. I don't want him to get hurt either, but I also don't want him to depend on me to get down. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
