Thanks for all of the answers, some were helpful while others were...well..not. Anyway, here's what it turned out to be: the pup got a hold of a cooked steak bone that was too thin. The bone got lodged in his stomach and did not allow anything to pass or for him to keep anything down. Lucca (the pup) has since passed the bone and is healthy as ever. For those who were so quick to call me an irresponsible pet owner for not rushing him to the hospital, well, in this case you were wrong, but i do agree with you that actions should be taken given the correct circumstances, but the only reason i posted this question was to learn more about the situation. Before posting i did in fact speak to a nurse in the vets office but as any logical person would do, i did some of my own research. I suggest others do the same too, you can save your money, and the vet's time.

I'm glad you saved money and the bone passed without any problem, but if it hadn't and it perforated the stomach or intestines, as we see from time to time, you would have had a dead dog or a very expensive surgery bill. It is still best to have dogs, especially puppies, checked out by a vet.

I didn't read your last post but I'm very glad that your puppy is Ok.

any kind of bone lodged in the stomach can be really serious!

one of our German Shephards had a chicken bone stuck in his throat one time and we had to rush him to an emergency vet (it was on a Sunday). it cost us over $900 just for the vet to take out one little bone. Unbelievable!!!

Good Luck w/ doggy! ^_^

I agree w/ not rushing to the animal hospital. My wife is wants to take the animals to the vet for EVERYTHING it is very expesive. We once paid over $1200 for a cat that was constipated. I was TICKED OFF.

Good luck with the pup.
