My dog (male pitbull) has started heaving lately. He will start heaving and then puke some yellow crap out. I've elimidated the possibility that he's getting into something. Any idea's?

He's not coughing...he's heaving like he's gonna puke which he eventually does. He's eating and drinking fine. I haven't changed his food (Purina Dog Chow- Green Bag) and I make sure his food and water bowl stay full with fresh food and water.

the "yellow crap" is usually stomach bile. Some dogs toss it up because their stomachs are just too full of bile and it's irritating. If that's the case feeding them a little more often is the answer. Some dogs toss it because they are chewing or eating other things and they're kind of hacking up something stuck in the throat. If you have eliminated the fact that he's getting into something that probably isn't your case. SO i'd try feeding him maybe twice a day . If it happens around the same time every day that's probably the issue...and if you can feed him an hour or so before that you'll solve your problem completely.

Heaving is not coughing. He is nauseated by something, most commonly it is from something he ate. Yellow color indicates bile from an empty stomach. If it doesn't stop soon, he can become dehydrated. It's more serious if he doesn't want to eat and if he also has diarrhea. Parasites can also cause vomiting.

He might just have a common kennel cough, but this could mean a number of different things. Write down all his symptoms and take him to the vet. Good luck!

Sounds like it may be Kennel cough. I suggest you take him to the vet and get some antibiotics and some expectorants to help him out. Don't worry though, he'll be fine. Good Luck

What is wrong with a person when they start throwing up? He's sick! The "yellow crap" is bile. Take him to the vet.

vomiting is an indication of virus, bacterial infection or blockage of some sort. is he eating? drinking? current on vac's? Maybe a good ole trip to the Vet would help, they'll run a few test and maybe an x-ray is needed.....

it sounds like kennel cough. kennel cough is highly contagious to other dogs. its easy to treat and isn't deadly when treated. you can go to your local vet and get your dog a Bordetella shot. its about 20 dollars. you could also get Bordetella shots at kennels or humain societies.

I guess you fed him something pretty unhealthy for dogs.

If you fed him chocolate send him to the vet, chocolate is VERY unhealthy for dogs to eat.

If you see your dog eating grass outside, he/she is doing it so he can vomit, which makes the dog feel better.
