I wrote earlier I would also suggest calling your vet and ask him what he would suggest. You dont' tie teh cord in a not but you eaither use forceps or you can VERY tightly and cut the side farthest form the pup leane it about an inch ling it will dry and fall off. usually the mom will take care of all.

if your ***** is not a young dog and is over the age of 18mths 2 years then i don't think you need to worry to much as she is best left to do deal with the pups by herself but you will need to keep other pups warm i always keep a large square clothes basket close by with warm blanket in and i put the clean pups in there and keep them warm while mum is sorting out a new pup that arrives because you will find that mum will move about and could tread on the new pups and because all the bed gets wet and messy so that way you can keep the new pups dry and warm and as for the cord just get some plain dental floss to tie the cord if mum doesn't do it but she will and no don't tie it the cord just put dental floss and tie about an inch from the pup then cut the other side of floss make sure you use a sterile scissors but don't let mum pull to hard on the cord. but you will find she will be find just be there to keep a close eye and keep the pups warm don't worry to much she will be fine why don't you go to the library and pick up a book that is called BOOK ON THE ***** you will find that it is very good and will tell you all you need to know good luck and try not to worry if there is a problem give the vet a call and ask his advice

best to let the mom do everything, but if she doesnt then when the pup comes out you have to tear the sack, after that you can use a rough towel to stimulate and if necessary, only if nec. you can pick the pup up, cup both of your hands with the pups head in your hands and its body on its back resting on your arms and your swing your arms downward . so the pups airway can get clear. you can do this swinging motion a few times to remove fluid. you dont want to use a baby bulb because the pup is usually very much smaller than a human baby and i dont think it will work very well. the cord can be cut with sterilized scissors and dipped in iodine if the mom doesnt do it. tying it isnt easy. just get a little paper cup with iodine and after its cut just hold the pup and dip the cut cord into the cup once. this is hard to explain here but ask your vet they can show you what i mean for clearing the airway. hope this helps! GOOD LUCK.

That's ok. It's still a baby bulb aspirator.
No you dont tie the cord in a knot. You can use unflavored dental floss to tie the cord if necessary. You would tie in an inch from the pups belly and the cut it a bit below the knot. You'll only need to do this if mom doen't chew the cord herself.
Then I always put a dap of anitbiotic cream on the end of the cord. That's it.

I've never used anything except a rough towel to clean up a pup and then only if Mum doesn't do it. Try not to interfere, instinct usually kicks in. You don't tie a knot in the cord, just cut it about an inch from the pup's tum. Make sure you use sterilised scissors. Again, Mum usually does it & eats the placenta at the same time!

I see you have a couple of experienced people who have answered you which is great. I haven't helped a dog give birth, but I did find some websites you can read.

It's always BEST when people learn what to expect and do BEFORE the time arrives. Waiting till the babies were born would put a lot of pressure on you if you didn't lean ahead of time, so I'm glad you're checking out how to help your girl before the time comes for her to deliver the pups.
