The Furminator is the best tool I have found to use on shorthaired dogs that have shedding problems. Changing food and/or adding supplements may also help. You may want to check out www.pugs.com and the Pug Dog Club of America website www.pugs.org

I fostered a long haired dog with the same problem and someone suggested putting a teaspoon of olive oil in his dog food every day. It worked! The shedding was greatly reduced and his coat became shinier. A pug is a small dog so you may want to use only 1/2 a teaspoon.

Pugs are huge shedders. (my friend has 2) Daily grooming will help a lot and make sure he's on a good diet. It will help, but being a Pug he's going to shed a lot.
