Because they need a companion that doesn't eat much? To have one that can fit in their purse? Because you can't put a 150 pound Rottweiler in your lap while you're driving?

my 4 mos old yorkie loves her puppy treat (Kong) and each time i give her, her kong treats she always wags her tail around and runs around the house to look for a place to hide her treats. She would hide it in the most funniest place, under the blanket, in tight corners of the house and she always goes around later to look for it. Most time she will forget where she had put it, and sometimes she would lick the area where she is hiding it. It is cute to see her do that all the time but why does she hide them and why only her treats???

I had pom puppies this morning and the small one doesn't seem to be doing good. Can't tell if it is nursing have tried and tried to get it to latch. I have seperated the other puppies to give mom and runt some time alone. She is taking care of it and it is 16 hours old now. Does anyone know if it is alive because it has nursed or do they have to nurse right away. Any ideas on how to tell if it has nursed at all? I have given it some Karo syrup, it is not as strong as the others. If it is still weak in the morning I will take to the vet. I just need to know how to tell if it has nursed at all? I raise horses and I know that if a baby horse hadn't nursed by now it probably wouldn't be alive, are pups the same way?

I'm getting a 7 week old male Beagle puppy on Monday after school (next week) and mom told me to type up a schedule so I know what to do when I get him. Since most of you guys are dog owners or experienced with pups, you can advise me whether my schedule will work or not. Thanks, Tiffany.
KEYS: PPB = Puppy Potty Break
8am: Get up and get dressed
8.10am: Brush hair & eat breakfast
8.20am: Brush teeth
8.25am: PPB
8.30am: Put him back in cage and go to school
I don't know what to do while I am at school but since my dad doesn't work, he will be at home all day (hopefully) looking after my pup. Any ideas for a schedule for dad? He is a bit lazy and won't want to walk him for me.
3.45pm: Get home from school
3.47pm: Feed puppy
3.55pm: PPB
4pm: Play with puppy inside and out (no walks until vaccs finished)
4.30pm: Watch TV
5pm: Play with puppy
5.20pm: Feed puppy
5.25pm: PPB
5:30pm: Watch TV
7pm: My dinner time
7:30pm: Feed puppy
7:40pm: Play with puppy
7:55pm: PPB
8pm: Puppy bed time
8:05pm: Homework and family time
9:15pm: My bed time
DO YOU THINK IT WILL WORK? COMMENTS AND ADVISE/SCHEDULE SWAPS WELCOME! PS. I am 13 - I can only do so much.

Okay, I know this sounds weird, but I was playing a board game and when I rolled the die, it fell off of the table and my dog ate it. Now I'm worried about how exactly it will come out of him and if it will hurt him. Are their anyways to possibly induce vomiting, or get the die out without hurting the dog too much? Thanks! Again, kind of urgent.

We went to the Vet today with our 10 month old West Highland Terrier. She lost some of her hair on her hind legs. We used a new shampoo by Hartz to treat her for Fleas ticks all your regular stuff. This was a new brand for us cant remember what we used before.

So she wasn't acting herself and with the hair loss we decided to take her. They said she had an allergic reaction to the shampoo. And they gave her some medicine and said we should give her 10 mg of pepcid ac for upset stomach.

So we get home and they call, her blood work came back and she is having kidney failure. WHAT?! Can an allergic reaction cause kidney failure, I used the shampoo on her about a week ago. I am so confused. Any input on anything you have heard of or seen first hand would be nice.

I adopted an American Pit bull from the shelter about 2 weeks ago. I had walked him to a local park earlier and I didn't see any bumps. I came home and found him greeting me with his toy. But I noticed that he had lots, lots, and lots of bumps all over him small and large. Is it the food I'm feeding him, the park, what is going on?! I feed him Natural Choice for dogs recently about 2-3 days ago. Not too long he had diarrhea but it had gone away. Now he poops out solids. I don't know what is wrong with him or is he allergic to anything? Please help?!

My dog has been scratching herself a lot lately. She only does it when she is not being walked, pet, fed, or otherwise stimulated. She mostly does it when she is lying around. She itches like she has fleas but I keep using a special comb on her and I can't find any bugs or eggs. I've had dogs with fleas before so I know what it looks like. Once there was some dander but that's it. She has itched so much that her hindquarters are getting sore and she snaps at our other dog when he goes near her. She also licks her paws sometimes.

Obviously I will take her to the vet ASAP but I want answers now. One thing is that I got a new dog last week. He is a puppy. Could he have carried that demodex mange into the house? He is not itching like her (so I really doubt it is fleas) but I think that demodex only affects dogs with compromised immune systems. She is also a bit stressed about the new pup so that may be a factor. I haven't ruled out food allergies either.

i've taken her to the vet, and she prescribed Pepcid for the dog. i give her 1/4 of a pill with each meal. but she continues doing so. her breathing isn't normal either. i've heard her wheezing, coughing strangely, and even sniffling a little. i've given her doggie cough medicine for the sniffling (aslo prescribed) but nothing is changing.
i'm aware of the pet food recalls, and i know i am feeding her safe food. i'm giving her Pedigree Little Champions pouched wet food mixed with Beneful Original dry food. i've been giving her the same food for months, and she hasn't acted like this until now.
what can i do? can any of these symptoms be in connectino with a serious condition? PLEASE HELP! i'm worried about my baby girl!

Well first of all, her mom told her she wouldnt get him back because he was too aggresssive, but she wasn't telling her the whole truth. About a half an hour later, they told her he had already been put to sleep. Oh my god not even i can get over the heartache because i knew that dog and he was so cool. Its just weird knowing that a perfectly happy dog had no idea that that was going to happen and all the suddun he's dead. Its just a crazy thought. anyway, i want to find a way to make her feel better, shes 12 so its hard to make a young girl help soothe that kind of pain. any suggestions? i need some quick answers because she is gonna call me back in about an hour or so. i dont think that she is gonna go to school. she has had the dog scince she was little and already lost her first dog (baven). How can i help her? Sorry about the long paragraph!

I read that it could be conjunctivitis or keratoconjuntivitis. Has anyone else ever had this problem? If so, is there an easy way to get rid of it?

...puppymills or private breeders? In the pet store they said the dogs come from private breeders and not puppy mills, but I dont know if I should believe them.

I have a Black Labrador. I know they are water dogs. I would love for her to swim and play in the water. The problem is that dogs are not allowed in the beach. (I live by Santa Monica City and the City of Venice) And I think it would be nice if I could take her somewhere not to far from home. I just don’t know anywhere around here. if anyone has a place that would be great.

I have adopted a few weeks ago and have never had a ***** before only dogs. Can anyone tell me at what age do they stop having seasons, or do they have them all their lives? The reason I ask is that Poppy is a rescue dog and we are not sure how old she is, only that she is roughly 8 or 9 years. Is it worth getting her spayed or are her seasons numbered?
